Two people unhappy in their relationships turn to one another in this drama from filmmaker Silvio Soldini. Anna (Alba Rohrwacher) is a woman in her early thirties who works as an accountant at a large insurance firm. Anna gets along well with her family and lives with her long-time boyfriend, Alessio (Giuseppe Battiston), a nice guy who thinks they should settle down and have a child. But Anna feels the excitement has gone out of their relationship, and when one of her co-workers, Domenico (Pierfrancesco Favino), begins flirting with her, she's intrigued and responds in kind. Before long, Anna and Domenico are having an affair, but while she's straying from a relationship she's not certain has a future, he has a wife (Teresa Saponangelo) and two children, and even if he's not always happy at home he's not prepared to leave his family. In time, Anna wants more out of her romance with Domenico than a few hours a week in a cheap motel, but Domenico makes no secret of his life with his family, and there's no resolution to their situation that won't leave someone hurt. Come Undone (aka Cosa Voglio di Piu [What More Do I Want]) was an official selection at the 2010 Berlin International Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

A middle-aged woman coming to terms with her son's sexual awakening does some extramarital exploration of her own in this downbeat drama. Miriam (Martina Gedeck) has just turned forty and is going on a seaside vacation with her husband Andre (Peter Davor) and fifteen-year-old son Nils (Lucas Kotaranin). Andre has given Niels permission to bring his girlfriend Livia (Svea Lohde) along for the trip; while Livia is soon to turn thirteen, she looks and acts several years older, and Miriam wonders if Andre has unwittingly given them carte blanche to take their relationship to the physical level, though Andre seems unconcerned. While sailing, the vacationers meet Bill (Robert Seeliger), a footloose American of German heritage who seems quite taken with Livia, and vice versa. While Miriam is quite appalled by Bill's flirtation with an underage girl, the longer she thinks about him the more she's drawn to him, and when she decides to confront Bill about what may be going on with Livia, they end up having sex. However, while Bill insists he's not interested in Livia physically, Miriam soon discovers her son's girlfriend is also a rival for her lover's affections. The second feature from director Stefan Krohmer, Summer '04 (aka Sommer '04) received its North American premier at the 2006 Toronto Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Set in the early '80s, a time when a new wave of leftist political consciousness and activism had swept German youth (and was just about to disappear as quickly as it arrived), this satiric comedy follows a young couple, Ingo (Hans-Jochen Wagner) and Nadja (Valerie Koch), as they travel to Austria for a weekend of skiing near her parent's luxurious chalet. While Ingo and Nadja have an open relationship, he thinks its time that they commit to one another exclusively, and is hoping this weekend will convince her this is a good idea. However, their privacy is interrupted when several guests arrive -- friends of Nadja's brother Knut (Ingo Haeb), a noted political activist, who, unbeknownst to her, has also planned a ski weekend. As the guests await Knut's arrival, they get the unpleasant news that he's been arrested during a demonstration; several propose that they should come to his aid, while the majority decide instead to go skiing as a way to pay tribute to his commitment to the cause. Sie Haben Knut received enthusiastic notices when it was screened in competition at the 2003 Berlin Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
