The first of several sight gag and slapstick-rich comedies he produced without the team of Jerry Zucker, David Zucker, and Jim Abrahams, this lowbrow comedy from executive producer and star Leslie Nielsen suffers by comparison to his work with the "ZAZ" team. Nielsen plays Dick Steele, secret agent WD-40, called out of retirement to stop the world-conquering plans of his old nemesis, General Rancor (Andy Griffith), an armless madman determined to avenge himself upon Steele (who is responsible for Rancor's lack of appendages). With the help of Russian agent Veronique Ukrinsky (Nicolette Sheridan), Steele prepares to battle Rancor at his tropical island lair, where the daughter of Steele's long-ago love is being held captive. Along the way, such films as True Lies (1994), Speed (1994), Jurassic Park (1993), Pulp Fiction (1994), and Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) are spoofed. Director Richard Friedberg had previously directed Nielsen in a series of automobile rental commercials and goofy "how-to" golf videos. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

When his spaceship crashes on an alien planet, an astronaut finds it to be populated by cowgirls living in the style of the old American West. Since he's the first hombre these buffalo gals have seen in years, there's a veritable stampede to be the first to ride this wild stallion. It's all low-budget erotic fun. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

When a gang battle costs a man one of his closest relatives, he sets his sights on evening the score in this crime drama. When two rival crime factions begin waging war on each other over control of prostitution and drug trafficking, a woman who was merely an innocent bystander is killed in the crossfire. Her brother, devastated by the loss, is determined to get revenge and enlists the help of a street-smart prostitute to find out who was responsible for his sister's death. Ritmo del Silenzio, also released under the titles Desperate Crimes, Port of Crime, and Mafia Docks, stars Franco Columbo, Traci Lords, and Denise Crosby as the streetwalker. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
Shot on inferior video stock (but sporting pretentious "letterbox" screen-masking for some insane reason), this painfully cheap and sleazy affair presents a serial killer on wheels, in the form of wheelchair-bound Eugene (Ron Litman), who seeks revenge against the street punks who killed his mother and rendered him unable to walk. When similar thugs rape and kill his aunt (Mary Woronov), Eugene seems to slip into Taxi Driver mode. When his attempts at preparation are thwarted by his infirmity, he is assisted at first by a like-minded homeless man (G.J. Levinson), but when his accomplice chickens out, Eugene kills him and rises to the challenge on his own, building confidence with each attack. Eventually he hits on the ultimate plan of revenge: by poisoning the water supply with a drug that will destroy the city's wealthy populace, literally turning them into bums! Though he is ostensibly directing his revenge on society as a whole, Eugene seems to favor naked or barely-clad female victims -- which seems more indicative of the director's hang-ups than those of his principal character. A waste of time, despite the presence of the always-interesting Woronov. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide
When rookie cops Candy (Elizabeth Kaitan) and Holly (Ginger Lynn Allen) are sent on their first big assignments, they must struggle to stop a gang of female convicts, led by the sinister Melanie (Julia Parton), who is transformed into the mutated monster Malathion after a bout with some toxic waste. ~ Iotis Erlewine, All Movie Guide

In this story, a couple have sunk every dollar they have or can borrow into creating a night club in an old, unused warehouse. When the business begins to fail, they rue the day they borrowed money from the mob. Ostensibly a psychological thriller with sexual situations and explicit language, this slow-paced movie was poorly received by reviewers. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide
- Starring:
- Nicholas Hoppe, Elizabeth Kaitan, (more)
Set in a post-apocalyptic 21st Century, Aftershock offers us a world ruled by an unseen female voice, where scuzzy paramilitary groups wipe out anyone remotely intellectual. Sabina is rescued by a pair of resistance fighters (Jay Roberts Jr. and Chuck Jeffreys). Once she arrives at rebel headquarters, Sabina proves to be a lot smarter than we think-as well she should be, since she's a visitor from another galaxy. Having come to earth in the misguided belief that the world has reached a state of peace and harmony, Sabina decides to return to her home planet, only to be captured again by Saxon and his minions ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The central "gimmick" of the comedy-adventure Twins is established early on. Unbeknownst to one another, king-sized Arnold Schwarzenegger and gnomeish Danny De Vito are twin brothers. Even better: Schwarzenegger is a mild-mannered, bookish type, while De Vito is a vitriolic troublemaker. The film takes satiric jabs at the notion of "perfect" genetics, and makes several pointed comments concerning the dangers of youthful pre-conditioning by insensitive parents. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

- Arnold Schwarzenegger, Danny DeVito, (more)

Directed by makeup effects artist John Carl Buechler, the seventh in the long-running, grisly horror series was far from the last, although the climactic fate of its antagonist would seem to suggest a final send-off. Lar Park Lincoln stars as Tina Shepard, a teenager with uncontrolled telekinetic powers. As a girl vacationing at Camp Crystal Lake, Tina killed her abusive father with the use of her mental abilities. Years later, seeking intensive counseling from manipulative, greedy psychologist Dr. Crews (Terry Kiser), Tina agrees to participate in a radical therapy that takes her back to Camp Crystal Lake. Unfortunately, Tina's psychic skills rouse the slumbering Jason Voorhees (Kane Hodder) from his watery grave and, in typically bloody fashion, the vengeful spook begins dispatching the randy teenagers partying in a house nearby. As Tina attempts to stop Jason's slaughter with the use of her powers, the mass-murdering ghoul encounters his toughest opponent yet. Friday the 13th, Part VII: The New Blood was often referred to by series fans as "Jason vs. Carrie," an apropos reference to Tina's strong similarity to the main character in the horror classic Carrie (1976). ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide

- Lar Park Lincoln, Jennifer Banko, (more)

Once in her lab, Drax, her faithful assistant jabs him with a needle and suddenly wimpy Wesley becomes the campus stud-muffin and finds himself surrounded by cooing crowds of scantily clad coeds. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

With a title like Assault Of The Killer Bimbos, the viewer gets pretty much what he or she would expect: a dumb-but-hip instant cult favorite that knows - and revels in - its limitations. Christina Whitaker and Elizabeth Kaitan are the two lead, er, bimbos, who are working as go-go dancers in a dead-end nightclub when their boss is murdered. When the two girls are accused of the crime, they hit the road for Mexico, picking up yet another bimbo along the way, along with three beach bums, and engaging in various adventures as they attempt to expose the real killers. First-time director Anita Rosenberg delivers a certain amount of wit, getting the most out of her low-rent cast, and the film's self-awareness goes a long way toward making it more palatable than one might expect. ~ Don Kaye, All Movie Guide
