Palmer (Dennis Haysbert) has been given his next command by Saunders (Paul Blackthorne). Saunders wants Ryan Chappelle (Paul Schulze) dead. Palmer tells Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) the bad news, and then it's a race against the clock to find Saunders before the deadline for delivering Chappelle's body, at 7:00 a.m. Jack tells Tony (Carlos Bernard), who realizes that they need to change Chappelle's security clearance. Jack then takes Chappelle aside and tells him the shocking news. Since Chappelle has no past connection to Saunders, Jack realizes that the demand must be due to Chappelle's work on the money trail. He has Chappelle transfer those files to Chloe (Mary Lynn Rajskub), who finds an encrypted bank account. Chappelle tries to leave CTU, and when Jack stops him, he claims he was just going outside to smoke. As Chloe cracks the code and finds a Los Angeles address for Saunders, Jack takes Chappelle to the trainyard where his body is to be delivered, just in case the CTU team, led by Chase (James Badge Dale) and Tom Baker (Daniel Dae Kim), doesn't get to Saunders in time. Back at the Chandler Plaza Hotel, Michelle (Reiko Aylesworth) has an emotional phone conversation with Tony. She then offers the suicide capsules to the infected guests. One guest, Kathy McCartney (Brigid Brannagh), comes forward to tell Michelle that the man she spent last night with is no longer in the hotel, and Michelle realizes that he must have left after the virus was released, but before CTU arrived to seal off the building. ~ Josh Ralske, Rovi

When gunshots ring out in a tragic roadside shooting, police officer Delbert Nez winds up dead. His close friend Officer Jim Chee (Adam Beach) is the first on the scene, and upon spotting an elderly, drunken Navajo Shaman named Ashie Pinto (Jimmy Herman) with the murder weapon tucked in his belt, he takes the man into custody as the prime suspect. Though Pinto does not confess to the crime, the case against him is strong, and Detective Joe Leaphorn (Wes Studi) begins to look into the case at the behest of his wife, Emma (Sheila Tousey) -- who remains staunchly convinced that her relative was set up. As Chee and Leaphorn investigate the case, they are troubled to discover a number of inconsistencies in the murder. How did Pinto get to the scene of the crime when he has no means of transportation? And how could the elderly Pinto be the man that Officer Nez said he apprehended as a vandal in his final communication to police headquarters? When their investigation leads Chee and Leaphorn to a local trading post run by a shady man named John McGinnis (Keith Carradine), the case soon begins to come into focus as the body count rises and the spirit of the coyote lurks in the shadows awaiting its next victim. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Despite the best efforts of Danny Sorenson (Rick Schroder), street informant J.B. Murphy is unable to kick his drug habit; when J.B. is found dead at the scene of a fire, Danny goes off the deep end, thoroughly alienating his girlfriend, Mary (Sheeri Rappaport). Elsewhere, Jill (Andrea Thompson) is convinced that so-called kleptomaniac Lucy Sperling (Hynden Walch) is actually stealing on orders from her no-good husband, Harvey (Daniel Blinkoff).
