Debbie (Nicki Richards) and Tony (Dale Resteghini) are a couple in their early twenties who met while living in a suburb outside Boston. Debbie is African-American and Tony is white, but both believe that race doesn't have to be an issue if two people love and respect one another. Debbie's family doesn't approve of her relationship with Tony, while Tony becomes the target of a radical Black Nationalist group who believe inter-racial relationships are a slap in the face to African-American culture.
