A walk by the seashore takes a girl on the first step of an amazing journey in this family-friendly drama. When her father loses his job and money gets tight, 14-year-old Julie Kimbell (Suzanne Marie Doyon) leaves her California home and moves with her family to Manzanita, a small town on the coast of Oregon. Julie, her parents, Robert (Brian McNamara) and Kathryn (Julia Campbell), and her bother, Jimmy (Brian Thompson), settle in with her grandpa Kimbell (Max Gail), who knows more than a little about local legends and history. When Julie has an unexpected encounter with an elk while taking a walk on the beach, she discovers an ancient gold coin. After telling her grandpa and his friend Standing Elk (Floyd Red Crow Westerman) about her experience, they tell Julie about the fabled Tillamook Treasure, a fortune in gold supposedly hidden in Manzanita in the 16th century by Spanish sailors who used nefarious means to protect their treasure from the natives. As Julie learns more of the lore of Manzanita's Native American tribes, she begins experiencing some of the magic of their people, and sees the friendly elk as a spirit link to the fabled events of four centuries before. The Tillamook Treasure took the prize as the Best Family Feature at the 2006 Newport Beach Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

After a bad day at work, a man suddenly gets a new job -- as the world's new Heavenly Father -- in this comedy. Bruce Nolan (Jim Carrey) is a television reporter working in Buffalo, NY, who has been growing increasingly dissatisfied with his existence, and after an especially bad day, he flies into a rage and curses God for making his life miserable. To Bruce's great surprise, the Supreme Being Himself (Morgan Freeman) appears, and tries to convince Bruce of the enormity of his task. Bruce, however, isn't buying it, so God gives him a chance to find out what he's up against; God bestows all of his powers on Bruce for a week, to see how he'd handle things. At first, Bruce has a great time bending the world around him to his will, much to the puzzlement of his girlfriend, Grace (Jennifer Aniston), but after six days God stops by to remind Bruce he hasn't done much to make the Earth a better place. Disappointed, God presents Bruce with an ultimatum -- he has one day to improve the world in a concrete way, or God will toss the planet back into the void. Bruce Almighty was directed by Tom Shadyac, who previously teamed with Jim Carrey for Liar, Liar and Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

After failing to inoculate Connor (Vincent Kartheiser) against the profane influence of Jasmine (Gina Torres), Angel (David Boreanaz) beats the boy senseless and stages a daring escape from the hotel. Fred (Amy Acker) feels just sick about leaving Connor and the comatose Cordelia (Charisma Carpenter) behind, but Angel advises her and the others to deaden their hearts if they want to survive. Taking to the sewers, the fang gang soon encounter a group of feral teen demon-hunters. Skulking underground ever since The Beast extinguished the sun (see "Long Day's Journey"), the kids have escaped Jasmine's influence, but are being picked off slowly by an unseen creature. Wesley (Alexis Denisof) soon encounters the skittery, spider-like creature (Jeff Ricketts) and learns that it's part of an ancient, otherdimensional demon race who have worshipped Jasmine for millennia. Held prisoner as the demon performs a blood ritual in Jasmine's honor, Wes ferrets out some intriguing information about the sinister higher being. Meanwhile, Jasmine herself continues "eating" her followers, including Cordelia -- or so it seems. Connor isn't too happy about this turn of events, but Jasmine uses it to draw him even closer. She also manages to seize control of one of the sewer-dwelling teens, who leads Connor and an army of followers straight to Angel, who is in the process of rescuing Wes from the spider-demon. Surrounded and outnumbered, the gang steel themselves for one last stand -- until Wes opens a portal to the spider-demon's home dimension. Determined that at least one person survive to fight Jasmine another day, Angel crosses through -- and into a hellish landscape full of countless additional skittering demons. Originally broadcast April 23, 2003, on the WB network, "Sacrifice" marked season four, episode 20 of the supernatural soap opera. ~ Brian J. Dillard, All Movie Guide
