Hosted by the Animal Planet cable network's house emcee, Jeff Corwin, this two-hour documentary sets its sights upon nature's "pituitary nightmares." Following the camera crew through swamps, in and out of deserts, and even onto a golf course, Corwin narrates images of animals and insects who obviously were on vacation when evolution came knocking at their door: Fierce-looking Komodo dragons, misshapen buzzards, outsized spiders, elephantine sloths, Goliath-like beavers, and humongous crocodiles. The "real" images are complemented by CGI-generated recreations of the modern-day giant monsters' prehistoric ancestors. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
