A man and woman cross the fine line between love and hate in this psychological drama from Slovenia. Tanja (Marjuta Slamic) and Mare (Dejan Spasic) are a married couple whose relationship has begun to splinter after five years together as they've become infected with distrust, though on the surface little seems to be wrong between them. One Friday evening, Tanja doesn't come home and Mare waits up for her. Tanja finally returns at 3:30 in the morning, and Mare responds with a barrage of questions. What first seems to be an expression of concern quickly reveals itself to be profound jealousy and anger, and the conversation turns into an argument, with both Tanja and Mare making no secret of their anger, frustration and hurt. Two hours later, the quarrel has escalated into violence, but while the police are called in to intervene, the love Tanja once felt for her husband makes it impossible for her to turn him over to the law. Za Vedno (aka Forever) was screened at the 2008 Rotterdam Film Festival as part of their "Sturm und Drang" program. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
