Korean filmmaker Moh Ji-eun makes her feature film debut with the 2002 romantic comedy A Perfect Match, a tale about a matchmaker at a dating service who could use a bit of matchmaking in her own personal life. Kim Hyo-jin (Shin Eun-gyeong) is an extremely gifted matchmaker whose 100% success rate is simply mind-boggling. Unfortunately, Hyo-jin's own relationship is an entirely different matter; her own boyfriend tends to prefer hanging out with his friends than spending time with her. Meanwhile, Hyo-jin discovers that one of her male clients, Park Hyeon-su (Jeong Jun-ho) is nearing the end of his 12 allotted dates without a successful match having taken place. However, when the two accidentally meet away from Hyo-jin's office, Hyo-jin finds she wants to learn a little more about her client in a nonprofessional sense. The film's original title, Joheun Saram Isseumyeon Jogae Shikyeojweo, roughly translates to English as "If you know someone nice, please introduce me." ~ Ryan Shriver, All Movie Guide

Martial-arts pro Jeong Du-hong stars as Jeong Tae-su in notorious Korean action director Ryoo Seung-wan's The City of Violence (aka Jakpae). A former punk and brawler-turned-police detective, Tae-su returns to his hometown for the funeral of a buddy, Wang-jae (Ahn Gil-gang). Once there, he reconnects with members of the "old gang," including the tough but loyal fighter Ryoo Seok-hwan (played by the director) and the gang leader, Jang Pil-ho. Tae-su suspects foul play in Wang-jae's death, and instinctively ties it to Pil-ho, now a scuzzy slimeball with a massive inferiority complex and hordes of armed men. His instincts, it seems, are correct -- Pil-ho indeed had Wang-jae rubbed out. Thus, Tae-su and Seok-hwan ultimately take on Pil-ho at an abandoned Korean restaurant, fighting myriads of his henchmen with bare knuckles, blades, and Korean martial arts, and accompanied by a rousing Leone-style score. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide

Director Shin Tae-ra teams with screenwriter Lee Yeong-jong to adapt author Yusuke Kishi's 1997 novel concerning an insurance investigator investigating a brutal series of murders. Jeon Jun-oh (Hwang Jeong-min) is a bespectacled former bank employee who now makes his living as an insurance investigator. Summoned to the formidable country estate of potential client Park Chung-bae (Gang Shin-il), Jeon is unnerved by his host's jittery behavior, and shocked to find the body of Park's seven year old son hanging lifeless from the ceiling. Everything in this house has a grim aura, including Park's wife Shin Yi-hwa (Yu Seon) - a grieving cripple whose recent stab at suicide is evidenced by the jagged wounds that mar her wrists. After touring the house, Jeon becomes convinced that Park is in fact a psychopath attempting to carry out an elaborate insurance scam. Not only does Jeon suspect that Park killed his own son, but he believes the murderous patriarch is now intent on doing away with his wife as well. When Jeon's attempt to convince the authorities of Park's guilt seem to fall of deaf ears, the sleuthing insurance investigator becomes obsessed with the prospect of uncovering the truth about this strange case. Unfortunately for Jeon and his unsuspecting wife Mi-na (Kim Seo-hyeong), this mystery is much deadlier - and deeper - than anyone ever imagined imagined. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
