Two people are found crucified -- yes, crucified -- at the site of a safe robbery. The surviving victim insists that the perps were two Russians, but this story doesn't stand up the 15th's smell test. Season ten of NYPD Blue opens during the investigation of shooting suspect Lyle Dennison (Lahmard Tate). After getting into a rhubarb with an angry young woman near the shooting scene, Andy Sipowicz (Dennis Franz) is marked for death by the woman's boyfriend, dangerous drug dealer Money T (Lamont Johnson). Meanwhile, Andy's partner, John Clark Jr. (Mark-Paul Gosselaar), sifts through the date book left behind by one of his secret informants, a murdered hooker. The book contains the name of a high-ranking NYPD detective, bringing John himself under scrutiny -- and suspicion -- from Internal Affairs. Still investigating the murder of a stripper, Danny (Rick Schroder) boozily spends the night with the dead woman's co-worker Kristin (Jenna Gering), who is being harassed by an obsessed fan. Rodriguez (Esai Morales) know that he plans to worm his way into the confidence of Kristin's boss, Joey Shulman (Greg Grunberg), in hopes of solving the murder. Investigating the claims made by IRS agent Victor Poole (Marty Rackham) that he has been kidnapped, Andy (Dennis Franz) ends up exposing Poole's secret life -- and is labeled "homophobic" for his troubles. In other developments, a cash-register thief (Max Perlich) tries to get a lighter sentence by offering to lead the detectives to the dead body of a teenaged crack whore. And Eddie Gibson (John F. O'Donohue) doesn't like being in the middle of the romantic intrigues between his niece Cynthia and Andy Sipowicz (Dennis Franz). With this episode, James McDaniel makes his final appearance as Lt. In another case, Diane (Kim Delaney) and Jill (Andrea Thompson) go after a band of gypsies who've been scamming elderly people. As for Andy (Dennis Franz), though his surgery was successful, he still isn't quite 100 percent -- but try getting him to tell that to Sylvia (Sharon Lawrence). Back on the job, when the semen-drenched bodies of a used car salesman and prostitute are found, the detectives split up to investigate each individual homicide. Also, Harvey Boutier (Dick Anthony Williams), a terminally ill friend of Lt. Fancy (James McDaniel), shows up at the precinct with new information on a 15-year-old murder case. Simone (Jimmy Smits) regrets his covert participation in an FBI sting against Joey Salvo when he is suspended from the force by Internal Affairs. An arrogant journalist who earlier wrote an article smearing the New York Police Department continues rubbing people the wrong way after he is mugged. And the detectives investigate a particularly vicious murder which, suggests the victim's psychiatrist, may have been perpetrated by the dead woman's father. The inner-city activist who had previously elicited a racist remark from Sipowicz (Dennis Franz), thereby triggering a media firestorm, is found murdered. Much to the dismay of the activist's constituents, Sipowicz is assigned to investigate the killing. Before this episode is over, the viewer will learn yet another secret in the turbulent past of Andy Sipowicz. And elsewhere, Martinez (Nicholas Turturro) and Medavoy (Gordon Clapp) can't get a murder witness to cooperate.
