In the first part of Charmed's sixth-season opener (originally telecast as a single two-hour episode), the Charmed Ones -- namely Piper (Holly Marie Combs), Phoebe (Alyssa Milano), and Paige (Rose McGowan) -- have no idea why their Whitelighter (guardian angel) Leo Wyatt (Brian Krause) -- who also happens to be the father of Piper's son, Wyatt -- has been plucked from their midst. Only novice Whitelighter Chris (Drew Fuller), who has been assigned to protect little Wyatt, seems to have the full story about Leo's disappearance -- and he's not telling. The complications begin to multiply when Piper is accidentally rendered amnesiac, Phoebe suddenly develops the powers of an empath (making her oversensitive to the pains of others), and Paige spearheads a desperate search for Leo. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The Drew Carey Show departs from its usual format in the series' two-part Season Seven opener (originally telecast as a single hour-long special). Fluctuating between their sitcom characters and themselves, Drew Carey and the cast serve up a crazy cornucopia of quickie sketches, unified by the common theme of "back to school". Part One finds Drew as the star of a teen-hygine film spoof about puberty, while Ryan Stiles portrays a clumsy--and headless--industrial arts teacher and Christa Miller, Jenny McCarthy and Amanda Bynes stage a slumber-party sketch while the male cast and crew members lecherously look on from the sidelines. Also: Lewis (Styles) and Oswald (Ryan Stiles) become backup singers for SHeDAISY (performing "I Will . . .But"; Kate (Miller) unearths Oswald's past as a wimpy cheerleader; Mimi (Kathy Kinney) jealousy guards her heavy-metal version of "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" from Smash Mouth (who sing "Pacific Coast Party"); and a pair of horny teenagers pay the ultimate price for their fantasies when their pants explode. This episode was originally slated to air on September 19, 2001. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
When Jon Stewart guest hosts and draws even bigger ratings that The Larry Sanders Show's eponymous host, Larry's paranoia starts to kick in. When the increasingly sex-obsessed host targets Winona Ryder for conquest, he is devastated upon finding Ryder and Stewart making out in the dressing room. The appearance of two network suits compounds Larry's anxiety, and his fears may be justified when it's revealed that there may be some big changes on the show. Meanwhile, Hank (Jeffrey Tambor) has difficulties changing his license plates to his trademark "Hey Now" when oddball doppelganger fan Paul (George Wyner) already has the customized plates. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide
