Thai filmmaker Thanit Jitnukul follows up his historical war drama Bang Rajan with the mythical period film Kunpan: Legend of the Warlord. In an ancient Thailand kingdom, the heroic monk Kaew (Watchara Tangkaprasert) leaves his hometown when the king kills his magical-powered father. He returns to be with Pim (Bongkoo Kongmalai), but she marries Chang (Apichai Nipattahuttapong) and changes her name to Wangtong. Kaew leaves the town again and changes his name to Kunpan, spending some time hanging out with thieves, practicing his magic skills, and sleeping with various women. On the eve of presenting a pair of prized elephants to the King of Thailand, a young martial arts expert and his father are shocked to discover that the beloved creatures were stolen by an international mafia syndicate, and now the determined fighter must travel to Australia to get his animals back in this adventure from the team behind the international action hit Ong Bak.
