The dirty laundry of the wealthy and oversexed gets yet another airing in this prime-time soap opera from producer Aaron Spelling. Richard Williams (Perry King) is a tough-as-nails businessman who single-handedly built his aviation business into a powerful multinational conglomerate. Richard is engaged to marry Heather (Yasmine Bleeth), a manipulative woman who only recently had an affair with Chandler (Casper Van Dien), Richard's son. Chandler isn't sure what he should tell his father about Heather, especially when he learns Heather is pregnant. Elsewhere in the family, Peter (John Barrowman) oversees the Williams family's finances, Jenny (Elizabeth Bogush) tries to keep her drinking problem in check (with mixed results), Laurie (Josie Davis) operates a nightclub and keeps her poisoned pen sharpened at all times, and Richard's former wife Gwen (Victoria Principal) observes the action from her bungalow across the street from his Beverly Hills estate. In the midst of all this, Samantha (Lourdes Benedicto), daughter of the family's housekeeper, works for the Williams and keeps track of their many peccadilloes, while also carrying a torch for Chandler (and wishing Heather would dry up and blow away). Got all that? Titans first aired on the NBC television network on October 4, 2000. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

A very large shark has been terrorizing the workers trying to install an underwater cable of the coast of Mexico, so a resort security diver, Ben (John Barrowman), takes it upon himself to put a stop to the killing. However, a tooth he finds is identified by researcher Cat Stone (Jennifer McShane) to be from not a shark, but a prehistoric megalodon, thought to be extinct for 24 million years. With a crew of victims -- er, sailors -- they set out to hunt the beast. But little do they know, the big shark attacking their boat and eating their crewmembers are the babies, and their mother is really, really big -- and angry. ~ Buzz McClain, All Movie Guide

The public and private lives of famed songwriter Cole Porter are both explored in this musical drama, in which the aging Porter (played by Kevin Kline) looks back on his life while watching a rehearsal of a stage musical based on his story. As Porter compares notes on the play with director Gabe (Jonathan Pryce), he shares thoughts on his rise to fame in the mid-'20s, writing witty and sophisticated tunes for a string of successful Broadway musicals. Porter seemed to be living a charmed life when he met Linda Thomas (Ashley Judd), a beautiful American woman who, like Porter, was enjoying a sojourn in Paris following the collapse of her first marriage. Thomas is immediately taken with Porter, whose intelligence and charm is a welcome change after her brutal first husband, and the two discover they share a remarkable understanding of one another. Porter and Thomas marry, even though she's aware that her new husband is gay; Thomas is willing to forgive Porter's indiscretions with other men in favor of the emotional support he brings her. However, as the years wear on and the couple takes up residence in Hollywood as Porter begins writing tunes for motion pictures, Thomas finds Porter drifting away from her as his liaisons become more frequent and more serious. Then tragedy enters their life when Porter loses the use of his legs in a riding accident and Thomas is diagnosed with cancer. De-Lovely features a number of noted pop singers interpreting classic songs from Porter's catalog, including Diana Krall, Sheryl Crow, Alanis Morissette, Elvis Costello, Robbie Williams, Mick Hucknall, and others. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

When the BBC revived Doctor Who, its long running cult sci-fi series, in 2005, it snared an outstanding lead in Christopher Eccleston, but failed to anticipate Eccleston's withdrawal from the program, one year in. The network's apparent fear of a decline in viewership given the arrival of a new doctor (David Tennant) caused it to segue away from storylines centered around that character. Thus, the Series 2 episodes place far greater emphasis on the doctor's sidekick, Rose Tyler (Bille Piper) (and the members of her clan, including her mom, ex-boyfriend, and deceased dad) than on Who himself. In Series Two, the network also attempts to revive long-dormant Dr. Who characters from the 1970s, including Sarah Jane (Elizabeth Sladen), in an episode about the fate of one of the Doctor's former assistants. As the Series opens, Dr. Who assumes control of the TARDIS and embarks, episode by episode, on a number of disparate adventures. These include episodes in which: Queen Victoria battles vampires, Charles Dickens battles evil spirits, Dr. Who fights Satan in the pit of a black hole, a little girl discovers that her illustrations automatically come to life, cybermen wrest control of London, and television sets transform thousands of viewers into flesh-devouring zombies. The one connecting story that links all of the episodes in Series Two involves the shady and mysterious doings of a nefarious group called The Torchwood Institute, which later received its own spinoff program. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide
