"Welcome to Life on the Outside" was the advertising tag for the weekly, hour-long Showtime cable network dramatic series Street Time. Rob Morrow starred as former marijuana smuggler Kevin Hunter, recently paroled from prison after five years. Moving into the same neighborhood as his parole officer James Liberti (Scott Cohen), Hunter did his best to go straight, and to mend fences with his common-law wife Rachel Goldstein (Michelle Nordin), the mother of Kevin's nine-year-old son. The no-nonsense Liberti was determined to keep Hunter from lapsing back into his old crooked habits, a task made difficult by Liberti's own chronic gambling and his prickly relationship with wife Karen (Kate Greenhouse). Meanwhile, Hunter's former partners in crime -- who happened to be his brother Peter (Christopher Bolton) and brother-in-law Steve (Simon Reynolds) -- put the pressure on the protagonist to return to the "family business." A woman coming to terms with her husband's death discovers his killer has run afoul of a violent crime in this detective drama. Joanne Kilbourn (Wendy Crewson) is a former police detective who left the force to teach criminology after the unsolved murder of her husband, Ian (Edward Jaunz). The investigation into Ian's death gets taken off the back burner when a suspect is arrested, Kevin Tarpley (Christopher Bolton); while Kevin claims to be innocent, he knows enough about the case to have raised the suspicions of police. Just when Joanne thinks her husband's killer may finally be brought to justice, Kevin is killed by a gunman as he's brought to the police station. After a strange visit by Kevin's wife Maureen (Kari Matchett), Joanne begins looking into Kevin's life and death, and discovers not all of her late husband's friends are willing to help her with her private investigation. Veteran hack director Sidney J. Furie directs the silly straight-to-video comedy Rock My World. The aging stuffy English aristocrats Lord and Lady Foxley (Peter O'Toole and Joan Plowright) have fallen on hard times, so they loan out the use of their mansion to the American rock band Global Heresy. When the band's bass player mysteriously disappears, Nat (Alicia Silverstone) shows up to replace him. Then the servants don't show up, and the Foxleys are forced to pose and a maid and a butler in their own mansion. The culture class between the conservative English and the reckless Americans is played for comedy, leading to an ending where the power of rock & roll transforms both cultural groups. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, All Movie Guide
