In a sex-and-violence film that emphasizes the physical abuse of young women, director Joan Freeman may raise the shackles as well as the hackles of her distaff viewing audience. Cookie (Melissa Leo) is a young runaway who arrives in New York City with her brother in tow and ends up working as a prostitute for the apparently easy-going Duke (Dale Midkiff). Everything seems fine, at least as much as can be expected, until one of Duke's streetwalkers threatens to quit, and he nearly beats her to death. Sickened and shocked, Cookie runs away with an infuriated Duke hot in pursuit and unsparing of anyone who gets in his way. In one of the last breakdancing movies of the mid-'80s, two competing breakdancing teams have their eye on a $10,000 prize in an upcoming contest. Three of the dancers on one team work as pizza delivery boys. Mean-spirited Spider (Mario van Peebles) from the opposing team convinces the gullible pizza boss that the three must be detained so they can't enter the contest. So one of the three is set up to make a delivery to a gorgeous woman who seduces him. The second is sent to a hospital where he's given new medicine that sidelines him for the rest of the day. As Detective O'Malley (played by an uncredited actor, lucky guy) tells it, the entire Kent clan is slayed one at a time by a hatchet-wielding maniac that may be Vicki Kent (Samantha Fox). Vicki is back after having spent time in an insane asylum for murder, so it wasn't a very good idea for her brother Billy (Bill Szarka) and sister Mary (Diane Cummins) to try to drive her crazy so she'd be returned to the institution.
