Unfortunately, the only potential donor has died from a strange illness, rendering the heart useless. In desperation, House (Hugh Laurie) decides to use the damaged heart anyway, and proceeds to "cure" the dead donor--while her grieving husband looks on! And in a separate development, Wilson (Robert Sean Leonard) comes knocking at House's door after the breakup of his latest marriage, resulting in the Odd Couple to end all Odd Couples. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
After developing a rash and several symptoms of pneumonia, 12-year-old Gabriel Reilich (Daryl Sabara) concludes that his Ouija board is right, and that he has been "cursed." House (Hugh Laurie), of course, is certain that there is a more logical answer, but to get that answer he'll have to penetrate the wall of silence erected by Gabriel's wealthy and powerful father (Nestor Carbonell). Meanwhile, Chase (Jeff Spencer) is none too pleased when his rheumotologist father (Patrick Bachau) flies in from Australia--especially when Chase Sr. seems to hit it off with House! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Faced with the choice of firing one of his team or losing his own job, House (Hugh Laurie) is given a way out by Vogler (Chi McBride). If he will give a speech on behalf of a new drug developed by Vogler's pharamaceutical firm, House will be completely off the hook. The upshot of all this only serves to deepen the animosity between House and Vogler--but in the meantime, the doctor must tend to the business at hand, including a senator (Joe Morton) with presidential aspirations who is diagnosed with AIDS, and a young woman (Missy Crider) who insists that she can't have suffered a miscarriage because she hasn't had sex in over a year. As expected, both of these patients will soon develop a whole set of confusing and contradictory symptoms...but no one expects the startling turn of events at episode's end! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Alfredo Ignacio Serricho), the handyman working on Cuddy's house repairs, suffers an apparent athsma attack and falls off her roof. Feeling responsible, Cuddy (Lisa Edelstein) is unable to treat the man, so House (Hugh Laurie) takes over. But before any treatment can be implemented, Alfredo develops a stunning array of horrifying symptoms, each one seemingly cancelling out the last--leading House to the conclusion that neither the fall nor the "athsma" is the root cause of the man's plight. Elsewhere, Foreman (Omar Epps) nervously seeks out a "politically correct" treatment for a hypersentive black patient (Charles Robinson) suffering from high blood pressure. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
The detectives turn up some truly baffling "clues" while investigating the disappearance of a young woman. It turns out that the missing party, a political aide, was romantically involved with her married employer, state official Ted Weldon (Brian Kerwin). The key to the solution may hinge upon a forged signature -- or, perhaps, the testimony of Mrs. Weldon (Maryann Plunkett). The similarities between this episode and the Gary Condit/Chandra Levy affair prompted Condit's wife to demand an apology from the producers of Law & Order. (For the record, no such apology was issued.) ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Once again, a real-life tragedy proved to be grist for the Law & Order story mill. The detectives investigate the bizarre death of an 11-year-old girl. All clues lead to an unorthodox, and highly dangerous, "rebirthing" procedure recommended by a child therapist. This episode provides some choice acting moments for such recurring characters as Medical Examiner Rodgers (Leslie Hendrix) and police psychologist Dr. Emil Skoda (J.K. Simmons). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
A covetous young wife of a wealthy attorney is found murdered on an apartment terrace. The detectives interview the elderly husband, who seems to be too "dazzled" by his late wife to be of any help. After running through such suspects as a disgruntled former boyfriend and an alcoholic ex-wife, the police and the D.A.'s office finally zero in on a person whose motives, under any other circumstances, could be described as noble and selfless. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
The detectives launch an investigation when the body of a Hispanic male is found. The victim turns out to have been an illegal immigrant, one of several involved in a racket wherein automobile accidents are staged. Though many people are implicated in the accident scam -- a chiropractor, an insurance adjuster, a corrupt lawyer -- the DA's office must determine who will be held solely responsible for the murder. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
When a white teenager is murdered in Harlem, the police at first assume the victim was killed in a botched robbery. Later on, a couple of black kids are heard bragging about the killing and seen brandishing the victim's jacket, thereby fomenting a dangerous racial situation. But as the evidence mounts up, the DA's office shifts its attention to a pair of police officers. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
The trunk of an abandoned car yields the dead body of a schoolteacher. Detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) suspect that the killing was the result of a gone-bad romance between the teacher and one of her students. But the D.A.'s office ultimately issues warrants for the dead woman's husband (Richard Joseph Paul) and father-in-law (Jon Cypher) -- psychiatrists both. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
A 16-year-old has been found dead from a bizarre wound, and the detectives are hot on the trail of the possible perpetrator. Chief among the suspects is John Telford (Jacob Pitts), a school bully with an inordinate fascination for martial arts. Ultimately, the investigation zeroes in on John's father Robert Telford (Robert Clohessy), who purchased the exotic weapon of death. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Best-selling mystery writer P.K. Todd (Ruthie Henshall) is shot in her apartment. Not long afterward, Todd's accountant dies. Could all this have been the result of a love triangle? And how do those two FBI agents figure into the story? To quote the original ad copy for this episode, "You WON'T BELIEVE how this one ends." Tom Berenger makes a guest appearance as Dean Tyler. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Law & Order's 11th season begins with Nora Lewin (Dianne Wiest) taking over as interim D.A. until an official replacement for Adam Schiff can be elected. Lewin's first case concerns a disabled youngster who died of smoke asphyxiation in an apartment fire. Suspects include the kid's parents and one of their neighbors, a person with a history of being in close proximity of suspicious blazes. Astonishingly, A.D.A. Jack McCoy (Sam Waterston), who normally goes for the jugular, believes that "the penalties are too severe" this time around. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Once again, Law & Order relies upon the headlines for story material. On this occasion, the detectives investigate the brutal murder of a school-hockey coach. Once the most likely suspect has been apprehended, the man tries to beat the rap by claiming to be suffering from an exotic mental condition known as "sports rage." Originally slated to air on December 13, 2000, this episode was bumped forward to December 20. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Why would a purse-snatcher shoot and kill his latest victim? While investigating the case, detectives Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Green (Jesse L. Martin) find themselves squabbling over issues that have special significance to them both. On a more serious note, Briscoe realizes that Green is developing a truly bad habit -- while the D.A.'s office haggles with the attorney of the accused over the admissibility of a whispered confession. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Elsewhere, Kellerman (Reed Diamond) receives some disheartening news just before he is to testify before the federal grand jury; and while trying to help Kellerman defend himself against corruption charges, Giardello (Yaphet Kotto) learns the real reason that he was not promoted to captain. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
