Prolific voiceover actor Danny Cooksey appears in this episode as Terry Lee, a dewey-eyed orphan who is anxious to spring a stray basset hound from the local dog pound. The Dukes come to Terry's aid, little realizing that the hound is actually quite valuable, and in fact had previously been kidnapped from a high-class dog show run by John J. Hooper (Joe Dorsey). After Bo (John Schneider) and Luke (Tom Wopat) stumble across a stash of stolen credit cards, Boss Hogg (Sorrell Booke) hatches a scheme to get his hands on the cards and frame the Dukes for theft in the process. But Boss has reckoned without his formidable wife Lulu (Peggy Rea), who has just joined Hazzard's Equal Rights Society (HERS), and uses her newfound feminist clout (with a little help from Daisy Duke [Catherine Bach] to take over half her husband's business enterprises. Crisis in Mid-Air is essentially a "problem drama" concentrating on a single individual. George Peppard plays a veteran air traffic controller who holds himself responsible for a mid-air collision. With an FAA investigator breathing down his neck, Peppard gets a chance to prove his value when another flight, with 235 passengers on board, puts in a "Mayday" call. The TV Guide ads for this television movie were a little misleading, suggesting that Peppard was in the cockpit rather than the control tower.
