A romantic rivalry strains the bonds of an already fragile family relationship in this independent drama. Jake Sands (Michael Parks) runs a ranch on the plains of Montana with his wife Rachel (Olivia Hussey). Jake and Rachel have two grown sons; Joe (Aaron Duffey) is a dutiful young cowboy who helps his father look after the cattle, while Dusty (Alexander Martin) is a nomadic rodeo rider with an eye for the ladies and a knack for getting in trouble. Jake makes no secret of the fact he doesn't approve of Dusty's wild ways and he dotes on his younger and more devoted son. Familial tension simmers beneath the surface when Dusty comes home for a visit, but the rivalry between the two brothers explodes when Joe learns that he and Dusty have both been dating Abby (Julia Jones), a local beauty they've known since childhood. When Joe and Dusty's anger explodes into deadly violence, Jake is forced to make some painful choices that could poison his future. Three Priests was an official selection at the 2008 Cinequest Film Festival in San Jose, California. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

A tightly-knit New Mexico community devoted to God, family, and fresh Mexican food is unexpectedly thrust into the national spotlight when the face of Jesus Christ appears on a tasty tortilla as the owner and head cook prepares for the Sunday lunch rush. Isidor Navarro is the owner and proprietor of Tortilla Heaven - a modest Mexican restaurant located in the remote town of Falfurrias. Though Tortilla Heaven may indeed have the best food in all of New Mexico, the only people aware of the restaurant are the seventy-two other residents who live in Falfurrias. All of that changes one fateful Sunday, however, when the citizens of Falfurrias file into church to pray the Lord's Mass and Isidor steps into the kitchen to make some fresh tortillas. When the dough that morning proves especially hard to handle and Isidor curses the difficult mixture before slamming it down on the grill, the God-fearing cook is suddenly taken aback when the face of Jesus Christ appears on the burnt tortilla. Of course in a tiny town like Falfurrias it's impossible to keep a secret, and the very next day curious citizens are filing into Tortilla Heaven to find out if there is any truth to the rumors concerning a divine flatbread. As Isidor realizes the moneymaking potential of the culinary anomaly and begins to charge admission, worshippers begin to appear from all corners of the state and Tortilla Heaven soon begins to turn a tidy profit. Later, after a series of incredible miracles are attributed to the tortilla, a shady city-slicker named Gil Garcia appears at Tortilla Heaven throwing around such words as "expansion" and "franchising." It doesn't take much for Gil to convince Isidor to sign on the dotted line, and it's only when greed begins to plague the citizens of Falfurrias that the true miracle comes to light. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

A woman looking to prove her courage and resourcefulness discovers she may have dug herself in too deep in this suspense thriller. After leaving her unfaithful husband, Estela Duarte (Yareli Arizmendi) is looking for a job to help support her children. She has a knack for writing, but the only job available to Estela in journalism is with a low-rent tabloid. She accepts the position and is soon assigned to cover a series of bizarre murders, in which a number of seemingly well-to-do women have been killed and mutilated. As she digs into the case, she finds herself often conferring with Carlos Ibarra (Steven Bauer), a police detective investigating the murders. Estela notices she's dug up some information that has escaped Carlos' attention and they strike up a deal -- if she helps him, he'll tell her all there is to know about the case, but on the condition that she doesn't report all the facts until the killer is behind bars. But while the cop and the reporter respect one another, Carlos knows how to protect himself and Estela doesn't -- which can make things dangerous when you're tracking a homicidal maniac. Bloody Proof also stars Olivia Hussey as Estela's best friend, Laura; a Spanish language version of the film was shot at the same time, and released under the title El Grito. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Due to the fact that the French-Algerian War (beginning in 1954) brought down several governments and led to the creation of the Fifth Republic, a deeply divided France struggled over whether to retain Algeria as the southern outpost of France proper, and this conflict was never formally declared as a war. Feelings within France ran high over the conflict, as those who wished to retain the north African country in French hands viewed it not as a colony, but as part of France itself, and this lent ferocity to their actions; those who viewed it as a colony were puzzled by the whole affair and its divisive nature and were ashamed of their country's actions. Meanwhile, the Algerian freedom fighters themselves were deeply divided, with some merely wanting a "civilized" independence with good relations with France, and others wanting to punish their oppressors. Terrorism on both sides became commonplace, and the conflict is often considered to be France's "Vietnam." This documentary explores the conflict through the recollections of a some veterans living in Grenoble and uses their personal photographs with telling effect. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

Originally titled Stephen King's It, this two-part TV movie first aired on November 18 and 20, 1990. The story starts in Maine, where a small child is lured into the hands of what audiences everywhere can be assured is one mean clown. Featured are a group of six young men and one young woman who call themselves "the lucky seven" and are the unfortunate targets of Pennywise from pre-adolescence into their mid-forties. Angela Lansbury plays a dual role in this episode, as Maine-based mystery writer Jessica Fletcher and as Jessica's flamboyant cousin, British music-hall headliner Emma MacGill. Arriving in London to attend Emma's funeral, Jessica is surprised to learn that her cousin is still alive. Having survived one murder attempt, Emma has decided to "play dead" until she can find out why someone wants to kill her--allowing Jessica to join in on the sleuthing, of course. The highlight of this episode is Emma's performance of the sentimental ditty "Goodbye, Little Yellow Bird"--which Angela Lansbury had previously sung to great acclaim in the 1945 theatrical feature The Picture of Dorian Gray. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Filmed on location "Somewhere in France", this umpteenth version of Dumas' The Corsican Brothers stars the zoned-out comedy team of Cheech and Chong. Perhaps inspired by the Ritz Bros.' spin on The Three Musketeers, the duo retains enough of the original story (about twin brothers who feel one another's pain) to keep the plot going, but try to inject their own peculiar brand of humor throughout. The film's highlight is a duel with two loaves of stale bread. Yes, that's the highlight. Just as the 1930s comedy team of Wheeler and Woolsey lost their audience when they dropped their risque humor and Prohibition gags, so too do Cheech and Chong falter when not indulging in the drug-oriented comedy which made them famous in the early 1970s. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
