Sirpa Lane, star of the notorious art-house porno The Beast, returns to star in this unofficial sci-fi sequel produced five years after the original and featuring the triumphant return of the lusty, well-endowed man-beast. The story gets under way as Captain Larry (Vassili Karis) stops off at a local watering hole for a cool glass of Uranus Milk. After striking up a conversation with stunning blonde Sondra (Lane), Captain Larry is confronted by an angry merchant named Juan who had been attempting to work his charm on the girl. A barroom brawl ensues, and after Captain Larry defeats Juan he swipes a vial from him and takes Sondra home. The next day, Captain Larry receives word that the vial contained a highly valuable space mineral. The Star Fleet wants Captain Larry to travel to the planet where the mineral was found and bring back more, and they've assembled a skilled crew to accompany him on the mission. Sondra is a member of Captain Larry's crew, but she's distracted from her mission by recurring dreams where she's wandering through the woods and ravaged by a hirsute stranger. Upon arriving on the planet, Captain Larry discovers that it is ruled by an enormous robot that possesses the only known traces of the prized space mineral. Now, in order to accomplish his mission, Captain Larry and his crew will be forced to do battle with a powerful race of aliens that will fight to the death to protect their precious natural resource. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Looking for an instant-disaster formula? Try a wagonload of murderous convicts, escorted by a Cavalry officer and a handful of guards. Then add the officer's two beautiful young daughters, who inexplicably go along for the ride. You're way ahead of us: there's an accident, the guards are killed, and the nine convicts run riot. This gruesome spaghetti western looks more like a "splatter" film, with no one spared the gore. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Director Mario Caiano, best known for the gorgeous horror film Amanti d'Oltretomba, made eleven Westerns in his career, but none as strange as this one. Perhaps it might help some to recall that the TV-series Kung Fu was enjoying great popularity at around the same time employing a similar East-meets-West theme. This film is much more grim and bloody, however, as it tells the tale of a Chinese man (Chen Lee) who travels to San Francisco in 1882. Looking for a better life, all he finds is scum -- racists, perverts, slavers, greedy conmen and mercenaries. Naturally, the gentle mystic must fight to find inner peace. Lee's major weapon -- aside from knives and lethal yo-yos -- is a devastating punch that rams all the way through his opponents' bodies. But that isn't the half of it. A cardshark gets his eyes gouged out in revolting detail, people are beaten to bloody pulp, and the villain of the piece (Klaus Kinski in a fascinating performance) is Scalper Jack, a mincing, sadistic bounty-hunter who tortures and skins his victims alive. A depressing and violent film, this exercise in bloodletting is powerful stuff and well-acted by a veteran cast including Giacomo Rossi Stuart, Claudio Undari and Gordon Mitchell, who also appeared in Caiano's Erik IL Vichingo. Adalberto Albertini made an unfortunate comic sequel the following year with Kinski (in a different role) and Lee. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

As in many mysteries before it, the attendees are murdered off one by one until only a soprano for the Metropolitan opera remains. In the end, Scotland Yard convinces her to confess because they know that she hid the second will she discovered. ~ Sandra Brennan, Rovi

Spaghetti Western fans used to the likes of Django and The Good, The Bad and the Ugly might be taken by surprise when watching Sabata. True, the film does star spaghetti Western star Lee Van Cleef as the tight-lipped hero of the title, but it has a very different feel from the genre's traditional, Sergio Leone-derived style. Director/co-writer Gianfranco Parolini (alias Frank Kramer) takes things in a direction that seems to fall halfway between The Wild Wild West TV series and a James Bond movie; the film is packed with colorful characters, exotic weapons, and the action scenes that mix wild stunts with pyrotechnics. Parolini appropriately gives the film a light touch, playing up the colorful and humorous aspects while delivering the action. The end result is a little too long for this sort of light material, causing it to drag a bit in the middle, but it is too good-natured and entertaining to dislike. In short, Sabata is likely to make fun viewing for Euro-cult fans and anyone interested in an offbeat Western. ~ Donald Guarisco, Rovi

Over five hundred European westerns were made between 1963 and 1977, and about half of them used this plot: a man's family is slaughtered by outlaws, so he teaches himself to shoot and goes after them. This particular entry was directed by Giuseppe Vari under the name "Joseph Warren." Mike Marshall is the vengeful gunslinger, chasing the bandits who murdered his mother and sister. Robert Hundar and Peter Martell co-starred in this unimpressive variant on a theme which had already been done to death. ~ Robert Firsching, Rovi

Just before gaining TV immortality as Batman, Adam West starred in this brutal spaghetti western. West plays a Texas ranger who comes up against four bandits (Robert Hundar, Red Ross, Robert Camardiel, Ralph Baldwyn). When they can't buy him off or kill him off, the Relentless Four frame West on a murder rap. When justice comes, it is swift, decisive and bloody. Funny how Relentless Four didn't get much play in the US until after Batman took hold. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
