The thriller Do or Die stars Kate Ashfield as doctor Samantha Sheppard, a woman who must reveal an uncomfortable secret to her husband. She must confess to her husband (Hugo Speer), that he is not the father of their son after doctors diagnose the boy with leukemia. She must also find the boy's biological father so that a necessary medical procedure can transpire. In this four-part British miniseries, successful builder George Brunos (Jonathan Cake) was sent to prison, accused of participating in a bank robbery and murder. Protesting his innocence, George claimed that he could be cleared by the very informant who turned him in; alas, that informant had died under suspicious circumstance. Believing her husband's story, George's wife Donna (Susan Vidler) engineered a scheme to help him escape from prison. Only too late did Donna discover the awful truth behind George's protestations -- and by then, both she and her husband had been targeted for extermination by certain unsavory characters. WWII was remembered from a distinctly feminist point of view in the long-running British drama series Wish Me Luck. Jane Asher was cast as Faith Ashley, London-based coordinator for a team of female resistance fighters, who journeyed behind enemy lines to confound the Nazis. Ashley's chief operatives (and virtually the only ones to survive all 23 episodes) were Liz Grainger (Kate Buffery) and Matty Firman (Suzanna Hamilton).
