Crisis in Mid-Air is essentially a "problem drama" concentrating on a single individual. George Peppard plays a veteran air traffic controller who holds himself responsible for a mid-air collision. With an FAA investigator breathing down his neck, Peppard gets a chance to prove his value when another flight, with 235 passengers on board, puts in a "Mayday" call. The TV Guide ads for this television movie were a little misleading, suggesting that Peppard was in the cockpit rather than the control tower. The Rebels was the second "Operation Prime Time" miniseries to be based on author John Jakes' Kent Family Chronicles (the first was The Bastard). The saga of Philip Kent (Andrew Stevens), illegitimate son of a British blueblood, picks up with Kent fighting in the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. Part One of this two-part endeavor busies itself with setting up characters, places and events; Part Two finds Kent and his pal Judson Fletcher (Don Johnson) teaming up to prevent the assassination of General George Washington (Peter Graves). The enormous all-star cast includes Richard Basehart, Doug McClure, Joan Blondell, Tom Bosley, Macdonald Carey, Robert Vaughan, William Daniels and Nehemiah Persoff; William Conrad does off-screen duty as narrator. Lt. Kojak (Telly Savalas) assigns Enrique Alvarez (Tony Diaz), a police officer of Puerto Rican descent, to work undercover in his old neighborhood. Alvarez's job is to investigate reports of a murder-extortion ring operating in the vicinity. The fourth of the feature-length Quincy, M.E. episodes produced for the NBC Sunday Mystery Movie anthology takes place on the Fourth of July, as medical examiner Quincy (Jack Klugman) is relaxing on the beach with the girlfriend Lee (Lynette Mettey). Quincy's idyll is cut short when a seriously injured swimmer washes onto the shore. During the subsequent lab examination, Quincy discovers that the swimmer had been poisoned by a fish--one that is usually found thousands of miles away, in warmer waters.
