Sidney Blackmer guest-stars as baloon ascensionist Major Cayley, an old Army friend of Ben Cartwright. With Ben's blessing, Cayley uses the Ponderosa as the site of his latest experimental flight. What Ben doesn't know is that the Major hopes to use all the excitement attending the flight as a diversion while his henchmen rob the Virginia City bank. But Cayley hadn't planned on the sudden arrival of his beloved daughter Diana (Diana Millay), who is oblivious to her father's nefarious scheme.
