Dice dictate the fate of a gambler willing to skirt society's conventions and relegate his fate to chance in this addiction drama from director Antonin Svoboda. Kurt's (Georg Friedrich) life is controlled by money. A manipulative hustler whose constant scheming is wearing thin on girlfriend Manu (Gerti Drassl), Kurt has an epiphany while viewing a television documentary on the life of classical composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Upon learning of the legendary pianist's unusual method of composing music by the roll of dice, Kurt immediately vows to put his fate in his own hands by making every decision in his life in exactly the same manner. When he gets appointed to see naval psychiatrist Dr. Jerome Davenport (Denzel Washington), he begins to reveal the emotional problems behind his rage. Through an introduction to anger management, Antwone is able to confront some secrets of his past and eventually search out his family for a confrontation. Also starring model-turned-actress Joy Bryant as Antwone's girlfriend, Cheryl, and Salli Richardson as Davenport's wife. A rambunctious and confused prepubescent and a bored middle-aged family man become unlikely friends in German director Anne Wild's 2002 feature-film directorial debut, My First Miracle. While vacationing on the North Sea coast with her single mother Franziska (Juliane Koehler), 11-year-old Dole (Henriette Confurius) accidentally meets fellow vacationer Hermann (Leonard Lansink) and each recognizes an odd kinship in the other -- while also realizing they live in the same hometown. After both families' vacations end, Dole and Hermann meet frequently and their friendship blooms, until one fateful day when Dole learns of her mother's intentions of moving to France.
