Leila Arcieri Movies
A tight-bodied beauty whose comely figure no doubt played more than a passing role in building television's zany
Son of the Beach a dedicated following, actress
Leila Arcieri also possessed a killer comic timing that perfectly accentuated the show's anything goes air of anarchic comedy. A San Francisco native who was raised by a single mother in nearby Sebastopol, in her youth the shy youngster forced herself to join the cheerleading squad as a means of coming out of her rather durable social shell. Dabbling in modeling by the time she reached high school,
Arcieri relocated to Los Angeles following graduation in order to pursue a career in graphic arts, photography, and makeup.
Arcieri soon found herself the winner of the 1997 Miss San Francisco contest, and with her newfound confidence, the burgeoning actress would subsequently decide to pursue modeling and find frequent commercial work. When
Son of the Beach writer/producer/star
Timothy Stack was searching for an actress of both remarkable beauty and a great sense of humor, he knew that he had found his woman when he auditioned
Arcieri. Though she had appeared in a few small roles before landing her
Son of the Beach role, it was this role that would find
Arcieri cast in such high-profile releases as
XXX (2002) and
Daddy Day Care (2003).

Dirty deeds among the rich, poor, and generally unscrupulous have come back into style in this direct-to-video sequel to the hit Wild Things. Niles Dunlap, a wealthy but less than honest businessman, dies unexpectedly in a light plane accident, and his teenaged step-daughter, Brittney Havers (Susan Ward), figures she's a shoo-in to inherit his fortune; however, Brittney discovers that Niles's will stipulates that his 40-million-dollar estate is to go to a charitable foundation unless a "blood heir" can be produced. Enter Maya King (Leila Arcieri), a schoolmate of Brittney's, who claims that she's Dunlap's illegitimate daughter -- according to Maya, her mother worked as a maid for the Dunlap family, and Maya was born after her mother was seduced by Niles. Meanwhile, Terence Bridge (Isaiah Washington) is an insurance investigator whose job is to hang in the balance. His employers would just as soon not pay off the two-million-dollar life insurance policy Dunlap had taken out, and Bridge is hoping to prove that the plane wreck was no accident. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Two fathers get a crash course in caring for kids other than their own in this family-friendly comedy. Charlie Hinton (Eddie Murphy) is an advertising executive whose job monopolizes his time, making it difficult for him to stay in touch with his young son, Ben (Khamani Griffin). However, after Charlie and his partner, Phil (Jeff Garlin), are given their pink slips in the wake of a disastrous campaign for a new breakfast cereal, Charlie's wife, Kim (Regina King), goes back to work, and with the family budget tighter than before, Charlie becomes a stay-at-home dad. After pulling Ben out of an expensive and exclusive daycare center run by the humorless Gwyneth Harridan (Anjelica Huston), Charlie comes up with a brainstorm -- since he and Phil watch their own children every day, how much harder could it be to watch a few more kids and open their own day care center? Charlie and Phil discover there's much more to running a daycare center than they ever imagined, but after a very rough start, with the help of likable slacker Marvin (Steve Zahn) their new business becomes a success -- so much so that Harridan finds herself losing customers to the upstart fathers, and she starts searching for a way to shut them down. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

The director (Rob Cohen) and star (Vin Diesel) of the previous summer's hit The Fast and the Furious (2001) are reunited for this spy thriller billed as a next-generation James Bond adventure. Diesel stars as Xander Cage, a nihilist extreme sports enthusiast nicknamed "Triple X" because of a large tattoo covering his back and neck. Cage's illegal stunts and poor attitude (he's given to spouting dialogue such as, "Have you ever been punched in the face for talking too much?") land him in jail, where he's recruited/blackmailed into government service by the National Security Agency's Augustus Gibbons, who likes Cage for his skills and expendability. The new secret agent is assigned to infiltrate a Russian crime ring called Anarchy 99, whose access to biochemical weaponry is making the United States extremely nervous. With the help of some high-tech gadgets from weapons master Toby Lee Shavers (Michael Roof), Cage is able to make his way into Anarchy 99, where he targets the group's leader Yorgi (Marton Csokas) and falls for the organization's second-in-command, Yelena (Asia Argento). XXX (2002) is the first in a hoped-for franchise of sequels for the film's producer, Revolution Studios. ~ Karl Williams, Rovi
