Writer/director Laura Nix makes her feature debut with The Politics of Fur, a reworking of Rainer Werner Fassbinder's 1973 film The Bitter Tears of Petra Von Kant. Set in L.A., high-profile music industry producer Una (Katy Selverstone) lives in an all-white residence with a pet baby tiger and a manservant named Dick (T. Jerram Young). Una is introduced to young musician B. (Brynn Horracks), who she wants as a lover and a client. Una's controlling nature comes into conflict with B.'s independent values. A mother is determined to keep her daughter from the seedy world of prostitution in this made-for-television movie. In the first episode of a three-part story, Hunter (Fred Dryer) and McCall (Stepfanie Kramer) are ordered to participate in a police task force to curb a recent upsurge in urban violence. McCall goes undercover as a phy-ed instructor at a tough neighborhood school, replacing a teacher who has been murdered. It isn't exactly "business as usual" for Hunter; the detective has a personal stake in the case.
