On the most fundamental level, the two neighboring French villages of Super-Charmoussey and Charmoussey couldn't possibly be more different: the former is an affluent, thriving ski resort town, the latter a village struggling financially - to such a degree that it seems barely able to stay afloat. For decades, the two villages have engaged in an intense and longstanding rivalry, with a perennial beauty contest between the towns; the lucky young winner, each year, automatically graduates to the Miss Franche-Comtr competition. For 22 years, Super-Charmoussey has won, hands-down, with its endless supply of gorgeous young European women who are primed and coached by outside professionals for maximum success. But this year, Charmoussey's mayor opts for a change in plan; longing to beat Super-Charmoussey at its own game, he summons village expatriate-turned-professional actor Franck (superstar Benoit Poelvoorde) to leave his Parisian home, move back into the community, and uncover the many secrets that Super-Charmoussey's citizens routinely use to give themselves a leg up. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide

French farce master Francis Veber (The Dinner Game) combines slapstick laughs with rapid-fire dialogue as he tells the tale of a Parisian valet unwittingly drawn into the affairs of a wealthy industrialist. François Pignon (Gad Elmaleh) is a simple valet employed by a posh Paris restaurant. Blissfully unaware of the paparazzi stalking powerful businessman Pierre Levasseur (Daniel Auteuil) and his stunning mistress, Elena (Alice Taglioni), the innocent passerby François wanders haphazardly into the frame. Realizing that the common man in the photograph may be Levasseur's only hope of avoiding a nasty divorce from his wife, Christine (Kristin Scott Thomas), Pierre's quick-thinking lawyer (Richard Berry) arranges for François to live with Elena in order to mislead the tabloids. Having just been dumped by childhood sweetheart Emilie (Virginie Ledoyen), François accepts the proposal, in the hopes he can win her back through jealousy. But Pierre's jealousy flares, Elena grows frustrated with her new digs, and Christine might know more than she's letting on. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

In this broad farce from French director Jean-Marie Poire, a Parisian must scramble to save his house, marriage and livelihood -- all having been threatened as a result of his own dishonesty. Georges' (Philippe Chevallier) troubles began while vacationing in Italy with his hot young mistress Emmanuelle (Alice Evans) when she discovered he has a wife and his only source of income is an allowance from his mother-in-law (Stephane Audran) -- both facts Georges had gone out of his way to conceal. With the trip ruined, the pair returns home to Paris where Georges discovers his mother-in-law's intentions of selling the swanky apartment he and his wife live in. Soon, the adulterous Frenchman must fend off prospective buyers, a very vindictive Emmanuelle and her freakishly virile and extremely jealous boyfriend (Gotz Otto) -- with the unexpected assistance of Maurice (Regis Laspales), a man he ran into on the street. ~ Ryan Shriver, All Movie Guide
