In yet another incarnation of the popular Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers format, a group of misfit students at a ninja academy find themselves in the position of saving humankind when the earth is attacked by aliens. Using the mysterious "storm and thunder" powers taught to them by the Ninja Master, the kids do battle with the evil Lothor and his minions. A Japanese/U.S. co-production, Power Rangers Ninja Storm made its American bow on February 17, 2003, as part of ABC's Saturday morning children's lineup. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

As if audiences in mid-2002 weren't nervous enough about anticipated enemy attacks on America, this made-for-cable movie speculates on the disastrous possibilities of a tornado hitting a nuclear power plant. Racing against time, nuclear expert Corinne Maguire (Sharon Lawrence), sheriff C.B. Bishop (Corbin Bernsen) and deputy Jake Hannah (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) try to evacuate the locals and prevent the vaporization of Tennessee (if that power plant goes, "it'll make Chernobyl look like a firecracker"). Complicating matters is the fact that Sharon's 12-year-old Campbell (Daniel Costello) is nowhere to be found. Advertised on the strength of the presence of two NYPD Blue stars in the cast -- one former (Sharon Lawrence), one current (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) -- Atomic Twister made its TBS Superstation debut on June 9, 2002. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Lord Belach (Marton Csokas), the son of warlord Borias (with whom Xena [Lucy Lawless] had far too many close encounters during her warrior-princess days) sets out to kill the Centaur Xenan (Hamish Hector-Taylor), himself the son of Amazon princess Ephiny (Danielle Cormack). Belach believes that his daughter, Nicha (Katrina Devine), has been kidnapped by Xenan, when in fact she has eloped with the boy of her own free will. When Xenan and the pregnant Nicha seek out help from Xena and Gabrielle (Renee O'Connor), they set off a chain reaction of reciprocal adductions and wholesale slaughter -- but the episode ends on a hopeful note all the same. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
