Your friendly neighborhood web-slinger is back, only this time his sunny outlook has become partially overcast in the third chapter of director Sam Raimi's Spider-Man saga. Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, and James Franco return to reprise their roles from the previous two installments, with Thomas Haden Church, Topher Grace, and Bryce Dallas Howard making their first appearances in the series as Flint Marko (aka Sandman), Eddie Brock (aka Venom), and Gwen Stacy, respectively. Peter Parker (Maguire) has finally leaned to walk the middle ground between being the superhero that his city needs and the man that Mary Jane (Dunst) loves. All is well in New York City until one night, as Peter and M.J. sit gazing at the stars, a falling comet streams across the sky and crashes into the ground close by. But this isn't any ordinary shooting star, and upon impact the mysterious space rock is split open to reveal a shape-shifting symbiote with the power to overtake anything that it comes into contact with. Later, as Harry Osborn (James Franco) acquires his late father's flying board, engineers a powerful new Goblin outfit, and takes to the sky to avenge dad's death, the mysterious space sludge infects both Peter's Spider-Man suit and ambitious street photographer Eddie Brock (Grace). Peter's strange new suit gives him a newfound sense of power as it gradually overpowers his personality, and he discovers that escaped convict Flint Marko was in fact the man responsible for the death of Uncle Ben (Cliff Robertson). Unfortunately for Peter, Marko has recently acquired the power to morph at will and quickly completes his transformation into the dreaded Sandman. As the Sandman gives in to his darkest criminal instincts and the slithering space symbiote transforms Eddie Brock into the nightmarish fanged villain known as Venom, the citizens of New York City must once again call on Spider-Man to fend off destructive forces that are far too powerful for the likes of mortal man. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Season Four of Monk begins as obsessive-compulsive detective Adrian Monk (Tony Shalhoub) seemingly meets his match in the form of private eye Marty Eels (Jason Alexander), whose disheveled appearance and careless manner evidently masks a keen analytical mind. Both Monk and Eels are working on robbery-murder at a jewelry store, and Monk is none too pleased that his rival is continually two steps ahead of him in uncovering evidence and arriving at the right conclusions--in fact, Eels' skills are something short of miraculous! Eventually, Monk discovers that Eels has been cheating all along with the help of his mother (!)...and it is a suddenly humbled and contrite Marty Eels who begs Monk's help when his duplicity puts his mom in harm's way. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Stars Martin Lawrence and Will Smith return along with director Michael Bay and producer Jerry Bruckheimer for this sequel to the 1995 sleeper hit Bad Boys, the film that sparked the careers of both actors, as well as Bay. Once again, Lawrence and Smith play hotshot, wisecracking Miami narcotics officers Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowrey. This time around, Burnett and Lowrey have been assigned to head up a task force to investigate the illegal trafficking of ecstasy into the city. They discover that an underground gang war has been instigated by drug kingpin Johnny Tapia (Jordi Molla). In order to cut off the flow of the designer drug, they have to take down Tapia. Unfortunately, there's a wrench thrown into the gears in the form of Burnett's sister Syd, whom Lowrey takes a liking to and begins a relationship with. Tensions rise between the partners, threatening both their friendship and the investigation and putting Syd in harm's way. Also returning from the first film are Joe Pantoliano as Captain Howard, Theresa Randle as Burnett's wife Theresa, and former-NBA star John Salley as 'Hacker' Fletcher. Among the supporting players new to this entry in the series are Peter Stormare and musician, spoken-word artist, and sometimes-actor Henry Rollins. ~ Matthew Tobey, All Movie Guide

Having suffered mightily from the obsessive jealousy of her husband, Don Harrison (Stan Cahill), Rita Ortiz (Jacqueline Obradors) finds out that Don has been cheating on her. Andy Sipowicz (Dennis Franz) takes time off to nail the crooked business manager (John Vickery) of dear old Mrs. Hornby (Elmarie Wendel). Several witnesses to a homicide seem to be willing to harm themselves rather than testify against a much-feared gang leader. And Valerie (Garcelle Beauvais-Nilon) upsets both Greg Medavoy (Gordon Clapp) and Baldwin Jones (Henry Simmons) when she announces her pregnancy and takes a leave of absence. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

A rape and then a murder occur in a hotel notorious for its high sexual activity. As Danny (Rick Schroder) and Diane (Kim Delaney) investigate, the case becomes more suspicious -- and complicated -- with each new development. Meanwhile, Baldwin (Henry Simmons) and Greg (Gordon Clapp) are taken aback by the extreme kinkiness of a pimp's clients.
