An ambitious high school senior who dreams of escaping his dreary small town and his depressive single father receives a visit from a disheveled senior citizen claiming to be the boy's older self in an intimate fantasy drama starring Robert Loggia, Craig T. Nelson, and John Amos. Seventeen year-old inventor Z.T. (Ean Mering) is athletic and creative, and seems to be headed for a bright future. Lately, Z.T. has been dreaming of getting out from under the protective arm of his gloomy father Cole (Nelson) and venturing out into the real world. Suddenly, sixty-eight year-old alcoholic named Zack (Loggia) shows up in town claiming to be the older incarnation of Z.T. Despite the fact that Zack can't quite remember the specifics about his mission, he claims to have arrived in order to stop Z.T. from making a single mistake that will send the boy's life into an irreversible downward spiral. Later, as Zack and Z.T. begin working together to avert disaster, the young boy falls for a beautiful local girl named Delena (Emilie Jacobs) and does his best to deal with the demands of his overbearing coach (John Amos). When Z.T.'s dad makes a devastating confession, Zack's time-traveling mission quickly takes on a newfound sense of urgency. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Alan Alda makes the first of several guest appearances as crusty attending physician Dr. Gable Lawrence, an old friend and mentor of Kerry Weaver (Laura Innes). Lawrence's pomposities -- to say nothing of his eccentricities -- do nothing toward endearing himself to Greene (Anthony Edwards). Meanwhile, the ER is the scene of a brief shoot-out; Kovac (Goran Visnjic) and Lucy (Kellie Martin) try to persuade a woman patient to get out of an abusive spousal relationship; Carter (Noah Wyle) is there for comfort and reassurance as his former sister-in-law, Elaine (Rebecca De Mornay), undergoes a mastectomy; and Jeanie (Gloria Reuben) is given temporary custody of an HIV-positive baby. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

One of the first feature-length productions from Black Entertainment Television's Arabesque Films, After All was based on the same-named novel by Lynn Emery. Having single-handedly yanked herself out of the ghetto, ambitious TV anchorperson Michelle Toussaint (Holly Robinson Peete) is determined not to let anyone or anything stop her upward climb in the important Los Angeles news market. Consequently, Michelle has put her own personal values and racial pride on hold, the better to succeed in a white male-dominated profession. But the heroine has not counted upon the return of her former sweetheart Anthony Hilliard (D.B. Woodside), now a TV cameraman and community activist. Egged on by Anthony, Michelle puts her career on the line by investigating public-housing corruption in her old South Central neighborhood -- and along the way champions the cause of a young activist who may have been framed for murder. After All made its American cable TV debut on December 3, 1999. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi
