Xzibit Movies
Hip-hop star-turned-actor Xzibit was born Alvin Joiner in Detroit, MI, later moving to New Mexico and Los Angeles with his family before releasing his debut album, At the Speed of Life. The releases 40 Days & 40 Nightz and Restless followed in quick succession, and after touring with the likes of Dr. Dre, Eminem, and Snoop Dogg Xzibit was a bona fide hip-hop heavyweight. In 1999, Xzibit began gravitating toward acting, with early roles in The Wash and 8 Mile serving well to show that he exuded as much charisma in front of the camera as he did in front of the studio microphone. More substantial roles in XXX: State of the Union, Derailed, and Gridiron Gang helped to solidify his reputation as a talented screen star, and starting in 2004, Xzibit would highlight some of the most outrageous machines ever to drive the two-lane blacktop as the host of MTV's Pimp My Ride. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie GuideAbel Ferrara's cult crime drama Bad Lieutenant is given a sister film with this Werner Herzog-helmed production that takes its inspiration from the original, but focuses on new characters and plotlines. Dee Roberts (Beharie) is a young single mother of four living in a small Texas town. Arrested during a drug raid and accused of a crime she didn't commit, Dee goes against the wishes of her mother, Alma (Alfre Woodard), and rejects the plea-bargain that would free her from jail, but brand her as a felon for life. As word begins to spread that similar incidents are occurring in poor communities all across the country, Dee realizes that there are more mothers out there like her, and decides to take a stand against powerful district attorney Calvin Beckett (Michael O'Keefe). Now, despite being well aware of District Attorney Beckett's fierce reputation, Dee enlists the aid of ACLU attorney David Cohen (Nelson) and former narcotics officer Sam Conroy (Patton) in overcoming the seemingly insurmountable obstacles that, if not navigated with the greatest of caution, now threaten to destroy her life. Forget everything you know about Little Red Riding Hood; the classic fairy tale gets a new look and a new style in this computer-animated comedy for the whole family. Grizzly (voice of Xzibit) and Stork (voice of Anthony Anderson) are a pair of critter cops who have been called the homey bungalow of Granny (voice of Glenn Close) to investigate a disturbance of the peace. It seems there was an altercation involving Granny, her granddaughter Little Red Riding Hood (voice of Anne Hathaway), a Big Bad Wolf (voice of Patrick Warburton), and a Woodsman (voice of Jim Belushi). However, as the detectives interview the participants and get each individual's perspective, they learn that Granny isn't so helpless, Red may have been doing more than just visiting relatives, the Wolf isn't the predator he's been cracked up to be, and the Woodman doesn't have much of an intellectual advantage over the trees he chops down. Hoodwinked also features the voice talents of Andy Dick, David Ogden Stiers, and Chazz Palminteri. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Sean Porter (The Rock) is a detention camp probation officer who oversees the inmates at Camp Kilpatrick in Los Angeles and isn't willing to simply write off the violent offenders who have been placed in his care. When Porter's proposal of forming a high-school-level football team at Camp Kilpatrick meets with skepticism and resistance in the highest ranks, the determined coach puts his career on the line to prove that even convicted criminals can acquire the tools needed to build a brighter future when given the proper motivation and the means of doing so. Season three of the custom car reality series Pimp My Ride begins with the pimping of a 20-year-old car that might otherwise have been consigned to the scrap heap. Host Xzibit and the mechanical wizards at West Coast Customs take on the daunting task of reconditioning and repainting a 1985 Ford Econoline owned by a 23-year-old motorist named Nate. Contributing to the metamorphosis are custom rims, a side post exhaust, red velvet couches -- and even a miniature hot tub! The rest of the season finds the pimp treatment given to such heaps as a 1988 Chevy S10, a 1996 Caprice Cop Car, a 1988 Honda Civic, and a 1955 Chevy Bel Air. And as always, if West Coast Customs isn't able to save the auto at hand, generous Xzibit is eager and willing to give the customer a brand new, state-of-the-art vehicle right out of the showroom. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

A new renegade fighter rises to defend the United States from an internal threat in this action thriller. Augustus Gibbons (Samuel L. Jackson) of the National Security Agency has successfully dealt with a number of threats to America's safety, but he faces a whole new challenge when he discovers a potent terrorist cell that has ties to the upper levels of the American military. Gibbons learns that George Deckert (Willem Dafoe), the secretary of defense, has been training a secret military faction to stage a coup against the United States by kidnapping and assassinating the president of the United States (Peter Strauss). Convinced there's no one he can trust within his circle of operatives, Gibbons turns to Darius Stone (Ice Cube), currently serving time in a maximum security penitentiary. The effusive Xzibit continues to troll around Southern California in search of worn out cars to transform into cool luxury vehicles -- with state-of-the-art accessories to boot -- as Pimp My Ride roars into its second season. For starters, Xzibit invites a motorist named Big Ron into the hallowed garage of West Coast Customs to witness the metamorphosis as Ron's 1984 Caddy Eldorado is pimped with the aid of a sunset pearl paint job, a gold grill, curb feelers, and white leather seats (did we mention that the car is also embossed with Big Ron's initials). Among the old clunkers pimped in later episodes are a 1991 Ford Escort, a 1958 VW bus, and a 1987 Chevy Blazer. Season two ends in the same manner as season one; unable to rescue a 1963 Ford Fairlane (it looks great after being pimped, but can't run for you-know-what), Xzibit presents the owner with a fresh off the line 2005 Toyota 4Runner. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Rap talking, bald headed "Pimp Master" Xzibit merrily selects old, beat-up clunker cars to be transformed into fly luxury vehicles during the first season of MTV's Pimp My Ride. The first assignment for the geniuses at West Coast Customs is a 1988 Daihatsu Hi-Jet, which is pimped with the addition of two MP3 players, a mini-fridge, a six-DVD changer and sundry other accoutrements. Later "lemons" given the treatment this season are a 1978 Cadillac Sedan DeVille, a 1986 Olds Cutlass Supreme, a 1992 Honda Civic, a 1967 Ford Mustang, a 1981 Pontiac Trans Am, a 1984 Nissan Maxima, and a 1969 Volkswagen Baja Bug. In the season finale, a 19-year-old North Dakota transplant named Kerry is honored with a "pimping" as his 1989 Ford Escort is taken into West Coast Customs. Alas, the old heap is beyond saving, but fear not: Kerry will drive home in a brand-new Scion xB! ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

This family musical enjoys the dubious distinction of being the first film ever based on a theme park attraction, the "Country Bears Jamboree" at Disneyworld. Beary Barrington (voice of Haley Joel Osment) is an adolescent bruin raised by a human family after he was found by a park ranger, abandoned in the forest. Curious about his biological roots, Beary travels to Tennessee to seek out his birth parents while attempting to locate the members of his favorite musical group -- a defunct country music act called the Country Bears -- along the way. Country Bear Hall, the famed venue where the band was launched, is facing imminent destruction at the hands of greedy banker Reed Thimple (Christopher Walken), but young Beary has a plan to save the hall by staging a reunion benefit concert. Beary's path takes him through a guitar duel, a vintage coffee house, and a car wash, as he's pursued by a pair of bumbling cops (Diedrich Bader and Daryl "Chill" Mitchell) trying to reunite him with his adoptive parents. Meanwhile, a panoply of musical legends including Willie Nelson, Bonnie Raitt, Elton John, and Queen Latifah appear Behind the Music-style to comment on the Country Bears' alleged artistic influence on their work. The Country Bears, the first in a pair of planned Disney projects based on the company's theme park rides (the second is slated to be based on "Pirates of the Caribbean"), co-stars Stephen Tobolowsky, Brad Garrett, Alex Rocco, and Stephen Root. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide
