This documentary features interviews with a number of people who discuss how their lives were touched (both physically and spiritually) by the presence and intervention of spiritual messengers sent by God. Angels: Beyond the Light - Amazing Stories of Divine Encounters also features appearances by celebrities who discuss their encounters with heavenly beings, including Carlos Santana, Stefanie Powers, and Evander Holyfield. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

The Holyfield-Foreman fight is included, as is information about Holyfield's early fights and successes in Atlanta, where he learned to box at the Warren Boys Club and where he came under the influence of his coach, the late Carter Morgan. The video tracks the course of his career, from the early wins and participation in the Junior Olympics, to his silver medal at the Pan American games of 1983, to his Olympic and professional success. ~ Leslie Birdwell, All Movie Guide
After a recruitment scandal, a struggling college football team is forced to turn to a rag-tag group of misfits in this sports comedy. It seems that Texas State University's football team has relied on some rather unorthodox -- and illegal -- methods to gain players, resulting in the disqualification of most of the team's stars. The desperate coach (Hector Elizondo) must rely on the school's actual students, a motley crew of unlikely characters that includes a female place kicker and a quarterback in his thirties. Unexpectedly, however, the coach discovers that the passer still has a heck of an arm, and suddenly the team again has a chance. The expected comic complications and obvious bits of slapstick follow as this band of eccentrics struggles to find a way to victory, resulting in a familiar reprise of a well-worn storyline. ~ Judd Blaise, All Movie Guide

An oddball trip to Texas Chainsaw Massacre territory by way of Peter Weir's The Cars That Ate Paris, this presents an inbred family of redneck psychopaths who orchestrate highway accidents, disassemble the vehicles for parts, then do the same to the drivers. The patriarch of this cabal of religious wackos, Mad Jake (Danny Nelson), then sells the pilfered human organs to a sleazy black-marketeer (Ray Walston). When traveler John Saxon and his wheelchair-bound daughter (Lori Birdsong) are ensnared by Jake's seedy gang, they manage to outwit the dimwits, slip past the jaws of the cuddly pet alligator and put paid to their hillbilly tormentors in appropriately gory fashion. Despite some clever moments of morbid humor, this opus comes off more grim than its makers probably intended, and there's not a sympathetic character in the bunch. And yes, the character of the boxer is played by Evander Holyfield. ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide

Will (Will Smith) tries to bring a touch of the old 'hood to Bel-Air on the occasion of his first Christmas with the Banks family. Unfortunately, our hero's garish Yuletide decorations (including lights so bright they can be seen from the freeway!) incurs the wrath of each and every one of the Banks' wealthy neighbors--especially boxing champ Evander Holyfield. This episode marks one of the rare TV sitcom appearances of former president Ronald Reagan...or at least a reasonable facsimile thereof (namely, versatile impressionist John Roarke). ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
