Sharon Osbourne Movies

Music manager-turned-media darling Sharon Osbourne -- the wife of heavy metal guru Ozzy Osbourne -- first sailed into prominence in 2002, as one of the four stars of MTV's reality series The Osbournes. This program took viewers behind-the-scenes for a raw and blackly humorous glimpse of the titular family's daily life, with son Jack and daughter Kelly ever-present. Unsurprisingly, it turned into an instant blockbuster, scoring mile-high ratings -- some of the highest in the channel's history.

Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne first met in the late '70s, when Sharon took on her shoulders the task of managing the ex-Black Sabbath frontman's music career pending his own decision to go solo. In seemingly no time at all, she helped him maintain, and build on, his superstardom -- and did the same for numerous other up-and-coming rock celebrities through the late '90s. The MTV program, of course, represented Sharon's most visible trip into the limelight up through that time. When it wrapped in 2006 (at the end of its fourth season), Sharon -- who endured and emerged victorious from a very public battle with colon cancer -- moved on to other filmed projects. These included hosting her own short-lived talk program, The Sharon Osbourne Show, and serving as a judge on the talent-search-themed reality series The X Factor and America's Got Talent. Cinematically, Osbourne voiced one of the characters in the CG-animated outing Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (2006) and tackled a live-action role in the teen comedy It's a Boy Girl Thing (2006). ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi

In 1967, John Michael Osbourne, a laborer from Birmingham, England, teamed up with his friend Terence Butler to form a rock group called Rare Breed. The band didn't last long, but a couple years later the two joined forces with Tony Iommi and Bill Ward and launched a new act that would come to be known as Black Sabbath. Taking the stage name Ozzy Osbourne, the group's lead singer became an international icon of hard rock, and after leaving the band in 1979, he went on to a wildly successful solo career. Osbourne also became known for such offstage antics as snorting ants, biting the heads off birds and urinating on the Alamo, and he spent most of his years in the limelight deeply addicted to alcohol and drugs, even as he became a reality TV star with the debut of The Osbournes in 2002. Filmmakers Mike Fleiss and Mike Piscitelli give Ozzy a chance to speak for himself in the documentary God Bless Ozzy Osbourne, in which the heavy metal pioneer discusses his life, career, family and struggle with addiction; the film also includes interviews with fans and friends Paul McCartney, Tommy Lee, Henry Rollins, John Frusciante, Robert Trujillo and many more. The film was produced by Ozzy's son Jack Osbourne, with Ozzy's longtime wife and manager Sharon Osbourne serving as executive producer. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

It seems that Prince's owner, Lady Eleanor, has recently passed away, leaving the care of her sprawling estate Castle Carlyle in the capable paws of her devoted kitty companion. Having ascended to national TV stardom by way of the outrageous reality series The Osbournes, Sharon Osbourne, wife of rocker Ozzy Osbourne, went solo with this daily, hour-long syndicated talk show. Far less profane and certainly less dysfunctional than her earlier TV venture, Sharon's new series found her conversing with celebrities and everyday folks, keeping things light and lightweight while still occasionally touching upon the drug-and-booze aura that permeated The Osbournes. Just to make sure that the star's more hardcore fans were not disappointed, the series' regular feature "Under the Covers" found Sharon trying to persuade celebrities to share her bed -- albeit chastely, and in full view of the studio audience. Sharon Osbourne was syndicated by WB/Telepictures beginning the week of September 15, 2003. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

Arguably the most prolific figure in the history of heavy metal music, Ozzy Osbourne has for decades rocked metalheads to their very core. From his earliest days with the legendary Black Sabbath, to his popular solo efforts, to his massive Ozzfest tour featuring some of the most popular musicians of the genre, the notorious Osbourne has made headlines with his outrageous antics and stricken fear into the hearts of parents around the globe. A colorful personality to say the very least, the world would bear witness to an entirely different side of the metal madman when, in early 2002, reality television pioneer MTV debuted The Osbournes. A massive success that garnered the highest rating ever for an MTV premier and would subsequently build viewership ratings to become one of the most successful cable series' ever (even surpassing that of some network series), The Osbournes would breathe new life into Ozzy Osbourne's career and find his popularity soaring to new heights. With the colorful personalities of wife Sharon and children Jack and Kelly, one could never be sure of what would happen next on The Osbournes. This wild unpredictability, coupled with storylines often alternating between hilarious, poignant, and surreal, provided viewers with the ultimate peek into the personal life of a celebrity. Though many would subsequently attempt to emulate its success, few would lay claim to the fascinating personalities and unique dynamic that made The Osbournes so captivating. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Fans of The Osbournes were well aware of some significant changes since the end of the first season, and the anticipation leading into season two of the hit MTV series was nearly searing hot by its debut in November 2002. It was no secret that having their lives displayed for the masses had taken its toll on the exhausted family, and for a while it looked as if the series might have run its course. With the July 2002 announcement that Sharon had been diagnosed with colon cancer, all signs pointed to the family foregoing their reality sitcom existence for a more private and personal period. This coupled with a visibly shaken Ozzy announcing that no one would be interested in seeing the family through such dark times made it appear as if the decision had been all but made to pull the plug on The Osbournes. Regardless of the trials that lay ahead, however, the premier family of reality television did indeed return for a second season in late 2002. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
