After seeing a 3-D photo of the baby in Kellie's womb, Drew (Drew Carey) can't shake the vision from his mind. As a result, he is unable to get romantic with Kellie (Cynthia Watros), imagining that the baby is scrutinizing every move he makes! Drew's reticence could not have come at a worse time: Like many another pregnant woman, Kellie is erroniously convinced that she is horribly unattractive. Hoping to save a few bucks while planning a party, Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) and Niles (David Hyde Pierce) are persuaded to buy some "black market" caviar. The stuff goes over so well with the guests that the brothers seek out their "contact" for more caviar, only to find out the supply has dried up and the Feds have clamped down on all illicit fish-egg trade. This is bad news for Roz (Peri Gilpin), who has become a hopeless caviar addict and can't go "cold turkey" -- or even "cold roe." Robert DeNiro continues to lampoon his tough-guy persona with this spoof of buddy cop movies that teams him with comic co-star Eddie Murphy. DeNiro is L.A.P.D. detective Mitch Preston, a gruff, no-nonsense 28-year veteran whose bust of a drug gang is botched one night by Trey Sellars (Murphy), a bumbling patrolman who's really a frustrated actor at heart. When Mitch's aggravation is captured by a television news crew, he fires his gun in their direction and becomes an instant media celebrity, while earning himself a temporary suspension at work. After his fame draws the attention of network TV producer Chase Renzi (Rene Russo), Mitch is soon informed that the only way he can get back to work is to allow a production crew to trail him on the job for a new cop reality series called "Showtime". In order to make the taciturn lawman more palatable to the viewing public, he's paired with the camera-friendly, fast-talking Trey. The new partners drive each other crazy, but their mismatched sensibilities make for great TV, while their newfound fame has its advantages in getting them back on the trail of those escaped drug dealers, who possess a powerful new weapon. Henry Winkler guest stars as Mr. Newsome, the easygoing new owner of Winfred-Louder. Immediately connecting with Drew (Drew Carey), Mr. Newsome confides that he is planning to oust Mr. Wick as personnel manager--and put Drew in his place. He intends to make this announcement official at a board meeting, right after attending Drew's Halloween haunted-house party. Alas, Newsome takes one look at the phony bat flying through the house and drops dead of a heart attack--leaving Drew to utilize his newfound skills as a ventriloquist to (hopefully) carry the day at the board meeting! Originally scheduled for September 27, 2001, this ER episode was moved back to October 4 due to network coverage of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Weaver (Laura Innes) heads to Doc Magoo's on personal business and fails to answer her pager when Chen (Ming-Na) and Malucchi (Erik Palladino) need her. An off-duty Carter (Anthony Edwards) deals with victims of a rock-concert stampede, tries to rectify a fatal error made by Chen and Malucchi in Weaver's absence, and injures his back. Weaver fires Chen for her error. Benton (Eriq La Salle) learns that the mother of his son, Reese (Matthew Watkins), has been killed in an accident. Vondie Curtis-Hall, who guest starred as a transvestite in an earlier ER episode, here replaces Victor Williams in the recurring role of Roger, the man who claims to be the true biological father of Reese. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
