Rachael Harris Movies
Comedic blonde actress Rachael Harris has found plenty of ways to make audiences laugh, whether it meant commenting on pop culture for VH1's I Love the '80s or appearing in quirky commercials for Quaker rice cakes. A veteran of the Los Angeles improve troupe the Groundlings, Harris transitioned to the screen as a correspondent for the popular news-parody The Daily Show. With her horn-rimmed glasses and tightly wound persona, Harris immediately found her niche in on-screen comedy, garnering fans with her own brand of straight-faced delivery. Harris would occasionally take on completely different characters for TV and film roles like her part in 2009's The Soloist, but the comedian more often played off of her own signature style, especially for comedies like Best in Show, A Mighty Wind, The Hangover, and Evan Almighty. Greg has more luck on the girlfriend front when his best friend Rowley (Robert Capron) invites him to go to his family's country club, where Holly works as a tennis instructor. A woman eager to grant what could be her husband's last wish ends up on a road trip with an ill-mannered criminal in this comedy from writer and director Robbie Pickering. Linda White (Rachael Harris) has been married for more than 20 years to Abe (John Diehl), a Christian so devout that he refuses to have sex with his wife; when the couple had trouble conceiving early in their marriage, a doctor discovered that Linda was infertile, and believing that sex without producing offspring is a sin, Abe insisted their union be celibate. Linda, an obedient spouse and devout Christian, has obeyed Abe's edict, but when he suffers a stroke likely to claim his life, Linda makes a surprising discovery -- Abe has been making frequent deposits at a sperm bank, and wants to meet one of the children he's sired before he dies. Linda is able to track down one of the products of Abe's seed, but Raymond (Matt O'Leary) is hardly the sort of son most folks wish for -- he's a mean-spirited prison escapee with a taste for drugs who agrees to travel from Florida to Texas with her only to avoid the cops who are on his trail. At first, Linda and Raymond mix as well as oil and water, but after a few days on the road the two discover they have a bit more in common than they expected. A blowout Las Vegas bachelor party turns into a race against time when three hung-over groomsmen awaken after a night of drunken debauchery to find that the groom has gone missing, and attempt to get him to the alter in time for his wedding. In 48 hours, Doug is scheduled to walk down the aisle, effectively ending his reign as a rowdy bachelor. Realizing that this is their last blowout with their best friend, Doug's groomsmen organize a Sin City bachelor bash he'll never forget. The next morning, the groomsmen come to in their Caesar's Palace suite to find a tiger in the bathroom and a six-month-old baby tucked away in the closet. Unfortunately, Doug is nowhere to be found. Mockumentary mastermind Christopher Guest turns his satirical eye away from dog shows, small-town theater, and folk music to offer a hilarious take on Hollywood award season in this comedy focusing on trio of actors whose lives are turned upside down when they discover that their performances in an independent film are generating a sizable buzz in the entertainment industry. Jay Berman (Guest) is in the process of directing his first feature film -- an intimate family drama set in the 1940s and detailing the tempestuous reunion of an estranged Jewish family that is reluctantly drawn together to celebrate Purim at the behest of their dying matriarch. Immaturity and poor sportsmanship once again find their firmly established place in children's athletics (at least among the adults) in this sports comedy. Phil Weston (Will Ferrell) is a tightly wound suburban father who had a competitive streak worn into him by his father, Buck (Robert Duvall), who never seemed to feel that his son measured up. When Phil's son joins a Little League soccer team, Phil signs on as coach, only to learn that Buck -- who also has a ten-year-old son these days -- will be coaching a team in the same league. Determined to show his father he can do the job, Phil impresses upon his young charges that winning is the only important thing, and soon gains a few enemies as he humiliates not only the kids on his own team, but their opponents as well. Monk interrupts its fourth-season schedule to offer this special Christmas episode, in which Monk (Tony Shalhoub) and his friends agree to anonymously exchange "Secret Santa" presents at the annual police department Christmas party. One such present is quite a surprise for Captain Stottlemeyer (Ted Levine)--a bottle of poisoned wine intended for him but delivered by mistake to another detective, who promptly drops dead! Stottlemeyer is convinced that his would-be murderer is vengeance-driven Frank Prager (Gill Gayle), who had earlier taken some shots at the Captain outside a bar. But after a thorough investigation, Monk can't help but feel that Prager is innocent...and that maybe the "accidental" murder victim was the real target all along! ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

One should not be accused of making slurring remarks if one observes that former Cheers and Veronica's Closet star Kirstie Alley played the title character in the satirical "reality" series Fat Actress. In point of fact, this largely improvised and unscripted half-hour series was created by Alley (in concert with Brenda Hampton of 7th Heaven fame), and it was she who came up with the title. The actress was seen as "herself," a former TV favorite whose popularity and job prospects diminished as her weight increased. Although she was outraged by Hollywood's double standard, which dictated that a male star can put on the pounds without losing work, while a female star is judged merely by the svelteness of her appearance, Alley was determined to put her career back on track, and to go to any lengths to convince people that she was the same Kirstie Alley as before, only more so. Of course, she also worked herself to a frazzle to burn off the excess weight that had caused her dilemma in the first place. Like Larry David's similar Curb Your Enthusiasm, Fat Actress featured a number of celebrities in cameo roles (usually mocking themselves in the same manner as the leading lady), and was also a veritable cornucopia of "inside" showbiz jargon. Viewers and critics were strongly divided about the series' merits, usually along the old "you love it or you hate it" lines, but one could not fault the star for valiantly poking fun at herself and her career and personal setbacks in a manner that totally charmed and disarmed all those who might have been inclined to dislike her personally simply on the basis of her "overindulgent" reputation. Larry (Larry David) is spending a lot of time taking care of Michael (Patrick Kerr), who broke up with his girlfriend after Larry told him she was not attractive. Later, when he has a problem with his car, Ben Stiller and Christine Taylor give him a ride. Larry and Stiller get into a shouting match after Stiller drops Taylor off, because Larry refuses to move to the front seat for the rest of their short drive, which Stiller thinks makes him seem like Larry's chauffeur. "You know what makes you a baby?" Stiller screams at Larry. "The fact that you're a big, stupid baby!" Jeff (Jeff Garlin) upsets Larry by telling him that he had a vision of Cheryl (Cheryl Hines) while pleasuring himself. When Larry expresses his disgust, Jeff protests, "You can't control who pops in!" Mel Brooks later calls Larry in to tell him that Stiller has given him an ultimatum, and that he's decided to stick with Larry in the show and let Stiller go. After Larry leaves, Norm (Paul Mazursky) and Rudy (Rudy De Luca) question Brooks' decision, and Norm suggests that Larry might be mentally challenged. After Larry has Cheryl's car washed at a charity car wash operated by four mentally challenged men, he runs out of gas. Desperate to use the bathroom, he goes door-to-door in a well-to-do neighborhood, asking strangers to use their bathroom. Finally, a friendly Muslim woman (Moon Unit Zappa) wearing a burka lets Larry in, and Larry decides to fix her up with Michael. ~ Josh Ralske, Rovi
Two fathers get a crash course in caring for kids other than their own in this family-friendly comedy. Charlie Hinton (Eddie Murphy) is an advertising executive whose job monopolizes his time, making it difficult for him to stay in touch with his young son, Ben (Khamani Griffin). However, after Charlie and his partner, Phil (Jeff Garlin), are given their pink slips in the wake of a disastrous campaign for a new breakfast cereal, Charlie's wife, Kim (Regina King), goes back to work, and with the family budget tighter than before, Charlie becomes a stay-at-home dad. After pulling Ben out of an expensive and exclusive daycare center run by the humorless Gwyneth Harridan (Anjelica Huston), Charlie comes up with a brainstorm -- since he and Phil watch their own children every day, how much harder could it be to watch a few more kids and open their own day care center? Charlie and Phil discover there's much more to running a daycare center than they ever imagined, but after a very rough start, with the help of likable slacker Marvin (Steve Zahn) their new business becomes a success -- so much so that Harridan finds herself losing customers to the upstart fathers, and she starts searching for a way to shut them down. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

Robert DeNiro continues to lampoon his tough-guy persona with this spoof of buddy cop movies that teams him with comic co-star Eddie Murphy. DeNiro is L.A.P.D. detective Mitch Preston, a gruff, no-nonsense 28-year veteran whose bust of a drug gang is botched one night by Trey Sellars (Murphy), a bumbling patrolman who's really a frustrated actor at heart. When Mitch's aggravation is captured by a television news crew, he fires his gun in their direction and becomes an instant media celebrity, while earning himself a temporary suspension at work. After his fame draws the attention of network TV producer Chase Renzi (Rene Russo), Mitch is soon informed that the only way he can get back to work is to allow a production crew to trail him on the job for a new cop reality series called "Showtime". In order to make the taciturn lawman more palatable to the viewing public, he's paired with the camera-friendly, fast-talking Trey. The new partners drive each other crazy, but their mismatched sensibilities make for great TV, while their newfound fame has its advantages in getting them back on the trail of those escaped drug dealers, who possess a powerful new weapon.
