"A good man is hard to find. A rich man is worth the effort." This advertising tagline could just as easily have been applied to Gold Diggers of 1933 or How To Marry a Millionaire as to the made-for-TV Rich Men, Single Women. Three attractive women of a certain age decide to pool their resources and land wealthy husbands. The first step is to convince their victims-er, potential soulmates-that they are "the women of their dreams." Suzanne Somers, Heather Locklear and Deborah Adair star as the Gold-diggers of 1990, who, according to one reviewer, "could set feminism back 20 years." Concocted by Aaron Spelling and Douglas S. Cramer-the folks who inflicted The Love Boat on an unwary nation--Rich Men, Single Women premiered January 29, 1990. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
Each of Katharine Hepburn's 1980s TV movies was heralded as the lady's last-ever appearance. We are fortunate indeed that she didn't choose the minor-league Laura Lansing Slept Here as her valedictory film. Ms. Hepburn more or less plays herself as a celebrated, pampered novelist who accepts the wager that she can't survive a week living with "just folks." She moves bag and baggage into a middle-class home, where she does her best to stage-manage the family members' private lives. Laura Lansing Slept Here could just as easily have been titled The Woman Who Came to Dinner; it's to Katharine Hepburn's credit that she was able to make so much out of so little. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

The First Affair of the title is the one conducted by naïve but nubile college freshman Toby King (Melissa Sue Anderson). Struck by the girl's sense of responsibility, professor Jane Simon (Loretta Swit) hires Toby as a baby-sitter. Soon afterwards, however, Jane's susceptible husband Greg (Joel Higgins) finds himself being won over by Toby's unspoiled beauty and words of endearment. This standard-issue triangle drama was filmed under the title Freshman Year. Lensed on location at Harvard University, the made-for-TV First Affair premiered October 25, 1983. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Typical soap dramas abound in this two-part movie, which was the pilot for a short-lived television series. ~ Bernadette McCallion, All Movie Guide
