Zalman King wrote and directed this soft-core Harlequinesque Romance that plays like Tennessee Williams meets Fredericks of Hollywood. April Delongpre (Sherilyn Fenn) is the daughter of a powerful senator and heiress to an old and respectable Southern family. April is engaged to marry the granite-handsome Chad Douglas Fairchild (Martin Hewitt) within a few days. But Chad has gone to Tuscaloosa to sign papers for their condo and the rest of the family has headed off to the lake, leaving April in the house alone with nothing to do except take long and languid showers--until she sets her eyes on the pecs of carnival roustabout Perry (Richard Tyson). Soon the two are making tasteful love in every nook and cranny of April's mansion. Unfortunately for the two sexual athletes, April's grandmother (Louise Fletcher) has assigned the local sheriff (Burl Ives) to keep an eye on her. And an eye on her he keeps, so that during the wedding ceremony, he has quite a story to tell. ~ Paul Brenner, All Movie Guide

William Katt plays Steve Shephard, a Vietnam Green Beret who has continued to fight on alone for 15years after the withdrawal of American forces. He's a renegade, seeking to avenge his fallen comrades and wearing spooky, white Kabuki-style makeup (hence the title) as he wages his one man war in a Vietnamese-Cambodian border area. As the film opens, the Pentagon receives a coded signal from Shephard that he's ready to come home. Ex-Green Beret Captain Walker (Wayne Crawford is dispatched with a team of vigilantes to find and return Shephard. The complication is that Walker and Shephard had clashed bitterly years earlier while in the same unit. White Ghost was filmed in Zimbabwe, doubling for the Southeast Asian locations. The film was planned for theatrical release by its original producers, but a merger with another company resulted in a direct-to-video release. ~ Clarke Fountain, All Movie Guide

This Spanish horror movie steals ideas from at least three different major films including Alien, Predator, and The Andromeda Strain as it tells the story of three American teens on vacation in Spain who drive their RV into a tiny Spanish town where a large piece of Skylab has fallen and infected the town with a parasitic alien microbe that drives human beings insane and turns them into horrible mutants. At the same time, a scientist from NASA arrives to his agency's secret location beneath an ancient Spanish castle to meet with the member of the original team who survived the microbe. He shows the new scientist the ruined body of one of the men. During the examination, some of the dead man's blood gets on the survivor and suddenly he is infected. The scientist wants to use him to create a serum, but the victim panics and kills himself. The scientist finds the tourists, and then to test out his vaccine infects himself with the virus. He promptly orders the American military to fire-bomb the town so that none of the residents will escape and spread the horrible microbe. He then injects the youths with his serum and dies. Just before the military drops the deadly napalm, the youths in their RV manage to crash the blockades in the town. They make it to a gas station and there find themselves assaulted by a terrifying alien being who bursts from the chest of a dead attendant. The creature tries to scale the RV's windshield. Fortunately, the clever driver simply turns on his windshield wipers, knocks it to the ground and then runs it over several times. The survivors begin to celebrate, until they realize that their driver has a nose bleed. This means that he too has been infected and all is lost. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Once again, it's horror on a college campus. The difference between this and other entries in the slice-n-dice genre is that bloodflow is minimal and most of the horror occurs off-screen. That is not to say that there are no queasy acts of violence though. Set just before April Fools Day, the story centers on a trio of sorority pledges who attend a dance held at a haunted frat house where two decades before a pledge lost his head in a hazing gone awry. During the party, the dead frat boy rises up from his gravesite (located in the backyard), takes over the body of one of the girl pledges and embarks upon an evening of bloody, inventive revenge using a variety of tools that include but are not limited too garden utensils, electric wires and even a guillotine. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

This colorful spoof of pirate movies had all the makings of a classic farce and yet sank straight to Davy Jones' locker at the box-office, for despite it's all-star international cast of famous comedians, and despite the fact that it was largely co-written by "Monty Python"-veteran Graham Chapman and former "Fringie" Peter Cook, the darned thing just wasn't funny. The sketches center around the core story of the dread pirate Yellowbeard's quest for a fabulous treasure, the map for which is tattooed on the head of his prissy son, who wants nothing to do with ships and pirate shenanigans. This was the final film of bug-eyed, beloved comedian Marty Feldman, who died of heart-failure before production finished. ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide

Based on a novel by Scott Spencer, Endless Love details the doomed romance between 17-year-old David (Martin Hewitt) and 15-year-old Jade (Brooke Shields). Banished from Jade's home by her daddy Hugh (Don Murray), David obsessively cooks up a scheme to get back into the family's good graces. Since this plan involves setting Jade's house on fire, one can easily predict that the puppy-love romance is in for a bumpy ride. Jailed for arson, David heads directly to Jade the moment that he's released, with tragic results. Posting respectable earnings thanks to the popularity of Brooke Shields, Endless Love was also the film debut of Tom Cruise, billed 18th in the cast list. A young James Spader lends a supporting role. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
