Antibodies director Christian Alvart takes suspense into space with this tale of two astronauts who realize that they aren't alone as they drift into the darkest corners of our galaxy. Awakening in their hyper-sleep chamber with no memory of who they are or what their mission is, disoriented astronauts Lt. Payton (Dennis Quaid) and Corporal Bower (Ben Foster) gradually surmise that they are the only ones aboard the darkened spacecraft. But how did they get here, and what are those strange sounds coming from the other side of the ship? German-born filmmaker Detlef Bothe writes and directs this low-key drama concerning a young couple who head out to the south of France for a short holiday, only to discover how family secrets can emerge to make things difficult at the most inopportune times. Julie and Marcel are two college students seeking to get away from their studies and spend a few quiet days in the country. As luck would have it, Julie's mother Susan lives in a cozy little home just a few hours away. En route to their destination, soothing silence rapidly gives way to constant bickering as the young couple gradually finds their common ground marred by treacherous trails and conversational landmines. Julie is defensive because she never really knew her father, and Marcel has always distanced himself from family for fear that others will discover his father is a drug addict. Later, upon arriving at their destination, Julie is shocked to discover that her estranged father has not moved abroad as she was once led to believe, but instead lives in surprisingly close proximity to Susan. Before he entrusts Martens with the sensitive information, Engel demands that Martens allow him to engage in a total psychological evaluation of his interrogator. A man who loses a very personal part of his body to cancer decides he wants it back in this offbeat black comedy. Martin Schwarz (Wotan Wilke Moehring) is a young man who has returned to Berlin after receiving a graduate degree in the United States. Short on both work and funds, Martin is alarmed by a constant pain in his groin, but doesn't want to spend the money to go to a doctor; a friend persuades a local paramedic to look at Martin, who insists he visit a hospital as soon as possible. The bad news for Martin is he's suffering from testicular cancer, which means one of his testes will have to be removed. While in the hospital, Martin meets Susanne (Julia Hummer), a beautiful patient who is carefully swiping drugs from the clinic for her own purposes. After surgery, Martin is told that he should have his other testicle removed to prevent a possible spread of the cancer. Put off by this notion, Martin instead opts for chemotherapy, and ends up in a ward with two eccentric cancer patients, Harry (Antoine Monot Jr.) and Nickel (Janek Rieke). One especially odd conversation between the three ends with Martin taking a bet that he can successfully recover his cancerous testicle from the hospital's pathology lab, a task he soon learns is far harder than he expected. Meanwhile, Martin and Susanne fall into a relationship, but she becomes increasingly upset by his inability to accept the notion that both of them may be living on borrowed time. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

She encounters much adversity from her male colleagues and from her boss, Eddy Garbitsch (Axel Prahl). Fellow cop Jens (Wotan Wilke Moehring) starts out as a jerk, but eventually softens up.
