Documentary filmmaker Steve York pays testament to the true power of democracy with this informative investigation of the highly controversial 2004 Ukrainian presidential election. Assembled from over 300 hours of original footage and archival materials, York's film was set into motion when presidential candidate Viktor Yushchenko was mysteriously poisoned. As the public took to the pools and the votes were being tallied, exit polls indicated that Yushchenko was leading by an impressive margin. Soon thereafter, when his opponent Viktor Yanukovych was declared the winner of the election, the public sat dumbfounded. In the aftermath over a million enraged protestors flooded the streets of Kyiv to stage what would quickly become the most effective political protest of the decade. Despite harsh weather conditions and ominous threats from both police and Yanukovych supporters, these protestors stood their ground in a makeshift tent city and boldly refused to surrender their rights to a contemptuous government. Now, as York ventures deep into the heart of Independence Square, secret tapes and explosive footage combine with the personal insight of Yushchenko, key aides, and leader Yulia Tymoshenko to show exactly what happens when the public decides to take back the power for the benefit of the people. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

A team of "sub-zero heroes" band together to save a human infant in this digitally animated feature from Oscar-winning director Chris Wedge, whose unique lighting software (called "Ray Tracing") sets his visual style apart from earlier CGI efforts. Twenty thousand years ago, the Earth is overrun by freezing temperatures in an Ice Age that is sending all manner of critters scattering in the path of encroaching glaciers. When a lost human infant is discovered, an unlikely quartet of misfits forms to return it to its mother: Manny, a depressed woolly mammoth (Ray Romano); Sid, a fast-talking sloth (John Leguizamo); an acorn-crazed squirrel named Scrat (Wedge); and the devilish saber-toothed tiger named Diego (Denis Leary). Before they can complete their mission, the reluctant compatriots will brave pits of boiling lava, dangerous caverns of ice, and even a traitorous plot within their midst. Ice Age (2002) also features the voices of Jack Black, Jane Krakowski, and Goran Visnjic. ~ Karl Williams, All Movie Guide
