Rupert Penry Jones headlines this tale of intrigue based on the bestselling novel by author John Buchan. London, 1914: Richard Hanney (Jones) has just returned from a stint in Africa, and he's already bored with life back home. That is, until he crosses paths with a man named Scudder (Eddie Marsan). Shortly after revealing himself to be a British spy, Scudder winds up dead in Hanney's flat, and it appears that Hanney is about to take the fall for the murder. If Hanney can just expose the German espionage ring that Scudder spoke about, perhaps he can prove his innocence. The authorities closing in, Hanney heads for Scotland with Scudder's coded notebook in hand, and finds himself at odds with fiery women's lib advocate Victoria Sinclair (Lydia Leonard). Personality clashes take a backseat to cooperation, however, when Hanney and Sinclair discover evidence of treason at the highest levels, and learn of a plot to invade Great Britain. If they can just identify the traitor in time, perhaps these two unlikely allies can prevent a conflict that could destabilize the entire globe. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Screenwriter Andrew Davies (Bleak House) revisits the scandal surrounding D.H. Lawrence's controversial novel Lady Chatterley's Lover in this original BBC drama that explores every detail of the landmark 1960 obscenity trial set into motion by the passionate and explicit book. First printed privately in Florence in 1928, Lady Chatterley's Lover was promptly banned in the United Kingdom for thirty years. Though the details of the trial were all a part of public record, the personal thoughts and reactions of the jury to this controversial novel have remained a mystery. In this fictionalized account of the trial, Davies attempts to get into the minds of two fictional jurors (played by Louise Delamere and Rafe Spall) to explore precisely how Lawrence's prose inflamed an entire generation of readers. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi

Originally aired on PBS, Lawrence of Arabia: The Battle For the Arab World delves into the life of Thomas Edward Lawrence, i.e., the man who inspired 1962's Academy Award-winning Lawrence of Arabia. Told from both Western and Arab perspectives, Lawrence, a 24-year-old British spy, would eventually become a figurehead in the Arab's struggle for independence. After uniting the Arab tribes in 1916, Lawrence led them in a war against the Turks, who ruled over them for more than 400 years. Though widely deemed a hero in Western culture, the impact of his various successes and failures can still be seen today. ~ Tracie Cooper, Rovi

Debuting over ITV in 1996, the British drama series Staying Alive concerned itself with a group of student nurses working in a large London hospital. During the first six episodes, the series' title was symbolic, with the nurses struggling to "stay alive" professionally as they went about their duties. But during the final six installments, the title took on literal dimensions as the young women were stalked by an unknown assailant -- unknown, that is, until the final 60-minute program, which aired in late 1997. ~ Hal Erickson, Rovi

English agriculture equipment salesman Gavin Hughes (Ross Kemp) is recruited by a British-U.S. intelligence agency to report what he learns during a business trip to Iran. His information is used to blow up a bus carrying 24 of Iran's scientists working on weapons of mass destruction. Needless to say, the Iranians are pretty upset with Gavin. Once back in England, Gavin is compelled to leave his (cheating) wife and son, and assume a new identity in a different town. Four years later, Gavin is living a quiet life in a seaside village with a new woman and her son when the Iranians learn of his new identity as Frank Perry. The Iranians dispatch their arch assassin, the Anvil, to kill him. Intelligence sources discover the Anvil's intents and work to protect Gavin/Frank, but it may be a matter of too little firepower against a malevolent terrorist. ~ Buzz McClain, Rovi
