Eve Best Movies
Best known for her work on the stage, British actress Eve Best studied English at Lincoln College, Oxford, before studying at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. After graduating, she appeared in a popular production of 'Tis a Pity She's a Whore, the first of many plays that would earn Best a series of nominations and awards. She appeared in several more productions on London's West End, and later transitioned to Broadway for A Moon for the Misbegotten, which earned her a Tony award. Produced and aired in 2006, the final, four-hour installment of the 15-year Granada/WGBH television series Prime Suspect -- entitled Prime Suspect: The Final Act -- nominally continues to follow author Linda La Plante's literary character, Detective Superintendent Jane Tennison (Helen Mirren), but segues dramatically away from Tennison's casework and toward incidents and developments from her private life. This alteration reshapes Prime Suspect, in its concluding installment, from a detective mystery program centered around hot-button social issues (child molestation, bigotry, gender bias) into more of a domestic drama with an incidental detective subplot. The tale opens with Tennison poised on the edge of retirement, with only a few weeks of work ahead of her. In her off time, she struggles to care for her dying father (Frank Finlay), and battles her own periodic blackouts, brought on by encroaching alcoholism. The central crime plot involves Tennison's attempts to pinpoint those responsible for the sudden death of a pregnant teenage schoolgirl and bring the unsavory characters to swift justice. As she investigates, she comes into increasing contact with the girl's family, and begins to perceive the broken relationship that existed between the victim and her deeply dysfunctional father (Gary Lewis); she also befriends Penny, the best friend of the deceased -- a relationship that imparts her with much-needed insight into the case at hand. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide

Thanks to the wonders of GHB, a young London woman loses all memory of her own rape and her best friend's murder in this two-part British television thriller. Plain-Jane Ros (Eve Best) lives with her party-girl mate, Jo (Stacey Roca). When Jo turns up dead and Ros is found drugged and raped, suspicion naturally falls on Jo's married lover, smug businessman Gerry Henson (Paul McGann). But when Gerry's accommodating wife (Amanda Mealing) provides him with an alibi, police inspector Will Tomlinson (Andrew Lincoln) is outraged -- especially given the feelings he's begun to develop for Ros. Unwilling to let the man she knows to be guilty walk free, Ros pretends to recover her memory and helps send Gerry to prison. Unfortunately, though, an anonymous campaign of harassment soon convinces Ros and Will that not only does somebody know about their deception, but they've helped convict the wrong man. Originally broadcast November 15-16, 2004, on Britain's ITV network, Lie With Me made its stateside bow June 5-6, 2006, on BBC America. In this tribute to the man considered by many to be the father of the science fiction genre, a reporter interviewing author H.G. Wells makes a startling revelation that could forever change mankind's relationship with the universe. Upon arriving at Wells' London home on a fog enshrouded evening in 1946, newspaper reporter Ellen McGillivray is regaled with tales of time travel dating back to Wells' days at London's Imperial College of Science. It seems that Wells and colleague Jane Robbins stumbled across a previously undiscovered rift in time during a series of midnight experiments, and though the pair swore to keep the discovery a secret, the experience forever bonded the adventurous scientists.
