A World War II-era battleship that has been reactivated and redeployed to the Persian Gulf for black-op interrogations has fallen into radio silence, and elite Marine task force, an NCIS investigator, and a pair of scientists is sent to investigate and report back on any abnormalities. Upon boarding the ship, the Marines are horrified to discover that nearly the entire crew has been ruthlessly slaughtered. Neophyte director/producer Cindy Baer helms the quirky goth afterlife drama Purgatory House, written by the prodigious 14-year-old scenarist Celeste Davis (who also stars). Davis plays Silver Strand, a backward teen who, disgusted with her status as a social pariah and unfulfilled goth hopeful, decides to off herself. She winds up in a purgatory realm that resembles a sketchy juvenile-delinquency home, watched over by Saint James, a caretaker perpetually dressed in a white suit (and played by Tom Hanks' younger brother, Jim Hanks). Once there, Silver must watch the activities of her Earthbound friends on the "Earth TV" network, and is forced to wear the same clothes and makeup over and over again. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide

A talented young musician attempts to balance his musical ambition with his deep-rooted desire to please both his demanding father (Tom Skerritt) and his career-oriented fiancé (Dahlia Waingort) in this affective drama about important life choices from filmmaker Martin Guigui. There's nothing that Anthony (Innis Casey) wants more than to become a full-time musician, but despite encouragement from his supportive Great Uncle Bill (Jonathan Winters) it seems as if everyone else in Anthony's life is against the idea. Boys will be boys, and that's not always a good thing, as this dark drama with comic overtones reveals. Matt (Keith Carradine) and Harley (David Keith) were best friends in high school, but since then their lives have followed a very different course. Matt drifts from job to job, swilling beer and making trouble wherever he lands, while Harley is a building designer with a nice home and an attractive wife, Fox (Janet Gunn), who wants to have a baby, though Harley isn't so certain he wants to be a parent. One day, Matt walks off his job at an Alaskan oilfield and heads to California, appearing on Harley's doorstep; Harley has neither the heart nor the desire to turn Matt away, and soon Matt is giving Harley a new taste of the bachelor lifestyle as they head out drinking, carousing, and chasing women from dusk till dawn. But Fox soon becomes wary of the way Matt is bringing out the less wholesome side of Harley's personality, while Harley notices Matt's behavior is advancing past good-natured rowdiness into something more sinister. Matt's fondness for fast sex with prostitutes and his sudden friendship with a gangster (Jan Triska) leads Matt down a dangerous road that proves to have disastrous consequences for the two friends.
