A professional actor shocked at the unexpected appearance of his grown, but long estranged son finds his life suddenly thrown into chaos with the arrival of the handsome seducer in director Victor Garcia León's bitterly funny comedy drama. Santiago (Juan Diego) makes a modest living as an actor -- his latest role being that of supporting player in a conventional farce which finds him cast opposite his decidedly younger live-in girlfriend, Ana (Cristina Plazas). When Santiago's thirtysomething son, Guillermo (Juan Diego Botto), suddenly appears on his doorstep without so much as a word of warning, the aging actor is eager to give the boy the boot despite the objections of his charmed girlfriend. Though it soon becomes obvious that Guillermo is a compulsive liar who makes no bones about using his good looks to get in good with the ladies, the roles of father and son gradually begin to shift as Santiago falls into a self-destructive pattern of impotence and self-pity and Guillermo is forced to take care of his troubled dad. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Three couples deal with the sticky issue of infidelity in this comedy-drama from Spanish filmmaker Ventura Pons. Silvio (Jose Coronado) is a well-to-do business executive who is seemingly happily married to Marcia (Cecilia Rossetto). However, Silvio is convinced Marcia is cheating on him, and frequently spies on her -- ironically enough, he usually does so during assignations with his mistress, posh interior designer Claudia (Aitana Sanchez-Gijon). Meanwhile, Daniel (Marc Cartes), who works with Claudia, is enjoying a vacation with his wife Irina (Cristina Plazas), a front desk clerk at the hotel where Silvio usually romps with Claudia. Daniel is hoping the getaway will help put the spark back into their marriage, but he soon discovers Irina's head has been turned by a trainer from a nearby health spa. And finally, Mariela (Patricia Arredondo), Silvio's housekeeper, has stated dating Jorge Washington (Gerardo Zamora), who has only recently come to Spain from Peru. While Mariela has fallen hard for Jorge, he's impressed by the romantic and material opportunities his new hometown provides. Animals Ferits (aka Wounded Animals) was adapted from a collection of short stories by Jordi Punti. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

Directed by Cesar Herrada, Cuando Todo Este En Orden follows widower Ignacio (Santiago Ramos) on his return to his hometown. Things have changed since the last time he visited--now unemployed and poor, the clean house that he left two years ago is a mess, his moterbike has been sold by his son Pablo (Daniel Guzman) for drug money, and his spot in the local choir he had founded with his wife has been filled. Pablo, meanwhile, is returning home from a stint in rehab, and arrives on the same day as his father. Pablo's personal relationships are all on the rocks, from his wife and daughter to his father, and the now-sober young man decides to take whatever steps he can to repair them.
