Hunter's boss Devane (Charles Hallahan) is aroused from his slumbers late one night by his ex-wife Sarah (Frances Lee McCain), who shows up at his doorstep with an incredible story about finding an abandoned car and a dead woman. Even worse, Sarah has been drinking, and is convinced that she is responsible for the woman's death. Though Devane doesn't believe his former wife's ramblings, further investigation proves that Sara was telling the truth. This campy gorefest is basically a series of outrageous death scenes set in a chi-chi health club which is haunted by the murderous spectre of its owner's late wife (who was burned to death). First taking control of the club's computer-controlled circuitry, the bloodthirsty ghost then decides to possess her gay brother, who begins parading around in sis's clothes and continuing her devilish deeds. For those with a natural antipathy toward the toned-and-tanned set, this tremendously bloody film might offer a guilty chuckle or two for the strong-stomached viewer, who can watch a series of yuppie hardbodies hacked (by blender), torn (by weight machine), burnt (by tanning booth), boiled (by shower), and shredded (by flying glass)... even mauled to death by demonically-possessed carp! ~ Cavett Binion, All Movie Guide

Not long after he lost that "chicken run" to James Dean in Rebel Without a Cause (1955), actor Corey Allen switched professional gears to become a prolific film and TV director. Allen was responsible for putting television perennials James Brolin and Lisa Hartman through their paces in Beverly Hills Cowgirl Blues. Brolin plays a Beverly Hills cop who teams up with a luscious female private eye from Texas (Hartman, of course). While Brolin prefers peace and quiet, Hartman insists upon rooting out the murderer of a debutante-turned-hooker. Since both stars were gainfully employed on other TV series when Beverly Hills Cowgirl Blues first aired on October 5, 1985, we hesitate to suggest that this film was the pilot for a potential series. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
