For millennia, questions about the existence and nature of God have prevailed across sociocultural barriers, leading to radically different interpretations and belief systems. The presence of many diverse faiths in the 21st century, in turn, seems to demand peaceful and harmonious co-existence even as each religion offers its own unique insights into the spiritual realm, theism, the nature of happiness, and the purpose of life's journey. In an effort to tap into the messages of religious leaders from many different backgrounds, French documentarists Jules and Gedeon set out to film twelve of these representatives offering their thoughts on the said issues, as filtered through their respective belief systems - with surprising and consistently illuminating results. Interviewees include Buddhist Dalai Lama Tenzin Gyatso; Catholic church head Pope Benedict XVI; Russian patriarch Alexy ll; Shiite Muslim leader Grand Ayatollah Mohammed Hussein Fadlallah; Lutheran bishop Rev. Mark S. Hanson; Jingu Daiguji of the Shinto Michihisa Kitashirakawa; Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi Yona Metzger; Southern Baptist Convention president Frank S. Page; Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar Imam Muhammad Sayyed Tantawi; Jathedar Sri Akal Takht, Supreme Sikh Authority Giani Joginder Singh Vedanti; Hindu leader Amma (Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi); and Dr. Rowan Williams, Archbishop of Canterbury. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide

Joe Halderman's documentary Three Days in September chronicles the 2004 incident when terrorists took over a school in Chechnya, holding over 1,000 hostages for three days. The footage, some of it shot by the terrorists themselves using one of the hostage's cameras, shows in clear detail the horrific events the hostages endured. This footage is interspersed with images of loved ones who gathered nearby in order to provide what support they could. Narrated by Julia Roberts, Three Days in September had its world premiere at the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival. ~ Perry Seibert, All Movie Guide
