After a round of lies between Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Cristina (Sandra Oh) about their love lives (or lack of same), the story proper gets under way with Cristina having second thoughts about moving in with Burke (Isaiah Washington), and George (T.R. Knight) threatening to move out of Meredith's house unless she meets his demands. Back at work, the staff deals with such patients as a competitive hot dog eater (Natalie N. Okamoto) suffering from what may be a terminal case of hiccups; a rock guitarist (Donovan Leitch) who loses several fingers; a woman (Jill Holden) whose drug treatment makes her abnormally cheerful; and an elderly lady (Carole Cook) who stubbornly refuses to leave after being discharged (as usual, George is stuck with this one!) When the identity of the dead child's father is revealed, Baldwin Jones (Henry Simmons) has a heated confrontation with the imperiously racist Gallegher. In another development, Danny Sorenson (Rick Schroder) tries to help street informant J.B. (Jeff Cahill) kick his drug habit, but Danny's idea of rehabilitation does not sit well with Mary (Sheeri Rappaport). Apparently intended to be shown right after the 1996 Real Adventures of Jonny Quest episode "Bloodline," "The Bangladore Falcon" was held back from release until February 14, 1997. While touring Bangalore, India, the Quest team teenagers find a rare falcon, which may or may be not be able to lead the kids to the legendary city of Shambala. Also expressing an inordinate interest in the falcon are the beautiful but lethal twin daughters of the team's old nemesis Dr. Zin. Lucy Liu, here billed as Lucy Xavier Liu, provides the voice of Melana Zin.

For the second consecutive episode, the evil Jeremiah Surd tries to destroy the Quest team. This time, Surd has invaded the mind of team member Jessie Bannon. As Jonny and his father Benton embark upon a "Fantastic Voyage" through the girl's thought processes to undo Surd's damage, Jessie herself proves to be more than a match for the Quests' perennial foe. Patricia Wettig guest stars in this episode as Stephanie, the attractive new neighbor of Niles Crane (David Hyde Pierce). Hoping to get better acquainted with the lady, Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) accepts an invitation to Niles' housewarming party, where Stephanie will be present. What Frasier hadn't counted on was the (literally) strong attachment between Niles and his pet cockatoo, "Baby" -- whose manic behavior at dinnertime proves beyond doubt that cockatoos make lousy lovebirds. ~ All Movie Guide

Three members of the Quest team go to the Pine Barrens region of New Jersey in search of the legendary Jersey Devil. The heroes find themselves in the middle of a feud between descendants of the Redcoats and Minutemen of the Revolutionary War, with the orginal Declaration of Independence as the bone of contention. While the script veers toward Scooby-Doo territory with a human villain posing as a supernatural monster, there's a neat and satisfying twist at the end of "The Spectre of Pine Barrens," which originally aired on September 17, 1996. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
