Tia Mowry Movies
Gen Y-ers will doubtless remember Tia Mowry as Tia Landry, one of the long-estranged, suddenly reunited titular siblings on ABC's Friday night "TGIF" sitcom Sister, Sister -- a role Tia played opposite her identical twin, Tamera, from 1994-1995, and carried over into an extended run on the then-fledgling WB network from 1995-1999. Though this hardly constituted the actress' premier role (she had already essayed a sequence of guest appearances on various U.S. series during her early teenage years), it did generate substantial audience attention and paved the way for additional onscreen work.Whereas many other multiple-birth actresses and actors (for instance, the Olsen Twins and the Sprouse Twins) first tackled projects that called for twin roles, then forked off into divergent paths, the Mowrys cut back and forth between joint casting and separate casting. They co-headlined the family-oriented comedy Seventeen Again (2000), the teen movie The Hot Chick (2002), and the 2005 Disney Channel telemovie Twitches (a kind of rehash of the Sister, Sister premise, with an occult twist), but essayed individual roles from time to time. Tia provided one of the main voices for the 2005 animated musical Bratz: Rock Angelz (and the accompanying Bratz TV series); she also signed for the lead in the sitcom The Game (2006), as Melanie Barnett, a med student who transfers from John Hopkins to a small San Diego college to be near her professional football player boyfriend. ~ Nathan Southern, All Movie Guide

Based on the same-named video game and toy line, the weekly, half-hour CGI series Bratz concerned a quartet of teenaged girls with "a passion for fashion"--and unusually oversized heads. Cloe, Sasha, Yasmin and Jade were all correspondents for their own, self-created teen magazine. From their headquarters at Stiles High, the girls traveled across the world and back again for the hottest news about the hottest trends. Meanwhile, ill-tempered Burdine Maxwell, editor of the rival "Your Thing" magazine, cooked up scheme after scheme to outscoop--and outwit--our heroines. Although the premise of the series would seem to be along the lines of "Barbie Goes Wild", the producers of Bratz were careful to include a potent moral message at the end of each episode, usually along the lines of "Be true to yourself and a loyal friend to others." Meanwhile, in her efforts to mediate a quarrel between Kimmy (Andrea Barber) and Steph (Jodie Sweetin), DJ (Candace Cameron) loses her cool. While twin sisters Tia Mowry and Tamera Mowry gained fame playing twin sisters on the sitcom Sister Sister, this comic fantasy finds them stretching their talents by playing grandmother and granddaughter. When the Donovan family moves from California to Connecticut, 17-year-old Sydney (Tia Mowry) finds it's not easy being in a new town away from her old friends, but her 12-year-old genius brother Willie (Tahj Mowry) is happy as long as he can tinker in his lab with his increasingly complex experiments. Willie is convinced he can defeat the aging process, and while devising an experimental anti-aging formula, he accidentally spills some on a bar of soap. When his grandmother Cat (Hope Clarke) mistakenly uses the tainted soap, she's transformed into a 17-year-old (Tamera Mowry). Her husband Gene (Robert Hooks) follows suit, and is also returned to his teenaged self (Mark Taylor). Cat and Gene are having a fine time reliving their youth and enjoying the thrill of teenage romance, but there's a fly in the ointment -- Willie learns his formula could have deadly side effects, and now he must discover an antidote to return his grandparents to their older but healthy bodies. A carefree young woman wakes up to discover her greatest nightmare is a reality -- she's become trapped in the body of Rob Schneider -- in this shape-shifting comedy. Thanks to the curse, the next morning Jessica awakes to find that her spirit has entered the body of Clive (Rob Schneider), a sweaty and hirsute small-time crook. As Jessica tries to figure out how she can return to her old body, she has to lead the cheerleading squad to victory and attend her senior prom while looking like a less-than-handsome 30-year-old man. Billy is understandably puzzled by the changes in Jessica, while her best friend, April (Anna Faris), finds her feelings about Jessica change a bit once she volunteers to be her prom date.
