In association with the New York Times and the CBC, Frontline investigates the issue of worker's safety requirements within the iron foundry industry in the documentary A Dangerous Business. Founded in Birmingham, Alabama, the McWane corporation has made a lot of profit at the cost of workers' safety. Out of the nearly 5,000 workers who have been injured at McWane plants, this program profiles the stories of seven employees. Also includes an OSHA inspection report and other government documents, including McWane's official memo to the New York State attorney general's office. Frontline: A Dangerous Business first aired on PBS in January of 2003. ~ Andrea LeVasseur, All Movie Guide

This is an insightful documentary that opens the window on the world of computer crime and high-tech espionage known as hacking. From the Frontline series brought to video by the education station PBS, this is disturbing evidence that again the speed of corruption has kept pace with the advancement of technology. What began as a global initiative for the exchange of information is now the playground for lurkers, spies, and bored teenagers, who have manipulated programs to steal private documents, personal thoughts and ideas, financial statements, and even state secrets. ~ C. Brought into the limelight by the Oscar-nominated movie The Insider, this documentary details the expose that lit the fuse on the movie, scandal, and lawsuits concerning Big Tobacco, and the secret reports surrounding the cigarette industry. From PBS, this Frontline production ironically details the decision by investigative heavyweights CBS and their flagship program 60 Minutes not to air the now famous Jeffrey Wigand interview. Highlights include talks with former 60 Minutes producer Lowell Bergman (portrayed by Al Pacino in the film version), and insight into ABC's decision to back down from a potential ten-billion-dollar lawsuit and publicly apologize to Phillip Morris. ~ C.
