After many aborted attempts, Sean Campbell (Bruce Greenwood) has finally cleared his relentlessly busy schedule to take his son, Mac (Daniel Magder), on an oft-delayed trip to Disney World. Unfortunately, his bosses at Arctic Oil have other ideas. It seems that a helicopter carrying an extremely valuable drill bit has crashed into a remote Canadian lake and that Sean is the only person who can recover it. Mac, who believes his father places more importance on his work than on his son, is very unhappy about trading in Mickey and Goofy for a backwoods town with little to offer a young boy. Things change dramatically, however, when Mac not only hears tales of a mysterious lake monster named Mee-Shee but actually stumbles upon his hiding place in a secluded cavern. Mac is enormously excited, but none of the adults take him seriously. This includes his father, whose attempt to retrieve the equipment is being foiled by the evil Watkins (Charles Mesure) and his henchman, Mr. Snead (Joel Tobeck), who work for a rival oil company and will stop at nothing to retrieve the drill bit for themselves. Things don't look good for Sean on either a personal or professional level -- until Mee-Shee manages to change all that. ~ Craig Butler, All Movie Guide

It isn't bad enough that divorcee Joanne Saunders must raise her son by herself and slave away for tips as a night-shift restaurant hostess. Now she must deal with an angry driver who runs her car off the road--and, in an apparent frenzy of road rage, continues terrorizing Joanne and her son long after the incident. But is this merely a random act of harassment, or can the demented driver be pursuing an altogether different (and more deadly) agenda? Originally seen over the Lifetime network on September 6, 2004, A Deadly Encounter (aka Over the Edge) posted some of that cable service's highest ratings, attracting 2.6 million viewers for its initial airing. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide

Jennifer Lopez stars in this gritty, emotional drama as police officer Sharon Pogue, who covers up a painful past with an anger that fuels her job performance in one of Chicago's toughest precincts. Although her partner Robby (Terrence Howard) is concerned about Sharon, she won't confide even in her closest friend. Sharon's life takes a turn, however, when she's saved from a violent assault by Catch Lambert (James Caviezel), a haunted, enigmatic do-gooder whose guardian-angel deeds make him a hero to some, like disabled shut-in Elanora Davis (Shirley Knight). Sharon becomes romantically involved with Catch, with whom she has more in common than she imagines, as Catch is also tortured by a painful, traumatic event from his past.
