Though it seems impossible that anyone but another lobster could be offended by the Italian-American domestic comedy Lobster for Breakfast, viewers should be warned that the film is rife with bathroom humor. But, hey, it's justified: the hero, played by Enrico Montesano is a travelling toilet salesman. Aspiring for a better life, Montesano is sidetracked by romantic and financial travails. This 1978 horror-lite opus was the work of René Cardona Jr., who was a creative force behind other tabloid-inspired efforts like Survive! and Guyana, Cult of the Damned. This less-exploitative entry in his filmography utilizes the infamous legends revolving around the many disappearances in the Bermuda Triangle as the backdrop for a fictional horror tale. The Bermuda Triangle tells the tale of a family scuba expedition, led by patriarch Edward (John Huston). Things take a turn for the bizarre when Edward's daughter finds a mysterious doll. The little girl claims the doll is telling her of their impending doom as strange things begin to happen to the cast and crew. The resulting film was more restrained than the likes of Survive!, going for more a Twilight Zone-style creepiness. Like much of Cardona Jr.'s work, it boasted an international cast that included Huston, Italian starlet Gloria Guida, Claudine Auger, and Cardona Jr. regular Hugo Stiglitz. Borniche (Alain Delon) has three difficult tasks before him: to keep a rein on police violence, to cut through bureaucratic red tape in order to do his job, and to find Buisson (Jean-Louis Trintignant) and put him behind bars. Based on a true story which takes place in 1947, Buisson is a psychopath who enjoys finding excuses for blowing people to oblivion while ostensibly just robbing them. A family's murderous battle over some bayfront property is the subject of director Mario Bava's bloody horror-thriller, which many have cited as the grandfather of the modern slasher film. Claudine Auger is the scheming daughter of a murdered Countess; her staged suicide forms the basis of the film's plot. In a seemingly unrelated subplot, four hippies arrive in a dune buggy led by Brigitte Skay, who dances the Shake and swims naked before having her throat hacked open with a machete. Skay's boyfriend has his face chopped with the same machete and the other couple has a spear thrust through their bodies as they make love. All of these murder scenes were imitated in Steve Miner's Friday the 13th, Part 2, and the film's style influenced countless American slasher films of the 1970s and '80s. Bava also includes a strangulation by telephone cord, a gory axe decapitation, a man speared to a wall, and five other murders. Antefatto was a trendsetting film, and paved the way for literally hundreds of graphically violent imitations. The generation gap widens when a prominent industrialist father forces his ruthless corporate mentality on his hippie son. Luca feels pressure from his domineering father to follow in his footsteps. His father succeeds in shattering his youthful, idealistic nature, changing the sensitive poet into a robotic clone and preparing him to take over the family business. Dad sends the boy to a sexy female psychiatrist who brainwashes the son with sex and tempers his social acceptability through "therapy." Two Yugoslavian patriots try to scuttle a seized warship from World War II rather than let it fall into the hands of the Germans. They contemplate sailing to England to use the boat in the fight against the Nazi invaders. The captain is bound to follow orders while a Nazi collaborator on board secretly plots to take over the vessel.
