A disgraced criminal defense attorney uncovers evidence of corruption within the police department while attempting a career comeback in this crime drama from director Jeff Celentano (Under the Hula Moon, Say it in Russian). Before his career was sidelined by drug addiction and a family tragedy, Steven Luisi (Tom Berenger) defended some of the worst criminals in the city. These days he's sober and determined to get his career back on track. When Luisi catches wind of a sordid, well-publicized murder case, he decides to pursue it despite the knowledge that it may steer him down a dark path. Before long Luisi has formed a partnership with Richard "Beanz" Allen (Kirk "Sticky Fingaz" Jones). A former star athlete who has since fallen back to the streets, Beanz has all the dirt on local drug dealer/gang leader Al Bowen (Busta Rhymes). But in order to bring Bowen to justice and expose his connection to the police department, Luisi will have to open himself up to some intense scrutiny. As the stakes get higher, Luisi and his unlikely ally take their fight for truth and justice from the streets to the courtroom. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

A doctor learns there's more to his profession than making money in this comedy-drama. Charlie Keegan (Robert Capelli Jr.) is a physician who has built up a lucrative practice by caring more about profits and working the loopholes of medical insurance claims than looking after the needs of his patients. While Keegan's scams allow him to live high for a while, eventually his misdeeds catch up with him, and when he's found guilty of insurance fraud, as part of his sentence he's ordered to spend six months doing volunteer work at Shady Pines, an nursing home for the elderly that has seen better days. With the help of Jill (Emmanuelle Chriqui), a pretty and compassionate nurse who works at the home, Keegan makes friends with his often eccentric patients and learns to deal with the other members of the staff and their many problems. In time, Keegan finds himself looking at the Shady Pines residents as people rather than clients, and gains a new perspective on himself and his career; he also finds himself falling in love with the idealistic Jill. Also starring Pat Hingle, Betsy Palmer, Paige Turco, and Artie Lange, Waltzing Anna was the first directorial effort from the team of Doug Bollinger and Bx Giongrete. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide

While some bright penny made a lot of money publishing a book for women about "The Rules" of wooing and winning a man, one man who can't be bothered to write such things down explains his own system for getting what he wants from the ladies in this comedy. Michael Vigilante (Robert Capelli Jr.) is a lawyer who considers sex to be a vitally important part of his well-being -- and the more sex (and the more women) he gets, the better. Vigilante shares his guiding philosophies on the fine art of convincing women to sleep with him when he isn't busy dealing with his former girlfriend (Christine Nagy), a crazy psychoanalyst (Frank Gorshin), a thick-headed prosecutor (Vincent Pastore), a love-starved judge (Nancy Siriani), and a humorless mob enforcer (Ken Del Vecchio). The Rules for Men also features Howard Stern Show regular Jackie Martling (aka "Jackie The Joke Man") as a partner of Vigilante's law firm. ~ Mark Deming, All Movie Guide
