Three inarticulate young people gather with a startling purpose in this independent drama from Spanish filmmaker Luis Sampieri. Iker (Sergi Gibert) is a sullen teenage boy who hikes up a hillside on the outskirts of Barcelona to meet someone he met through the internet, calling themselves "Mishima." Iker is disappointed to discover "Mishima" is actually a Muslim girl named Ramia (Ramia Chaoui) who has been waiting for him with her friend Ana (Irene Garres). It doesn't take long to realize that the three youths have made some sort of plan, and that Ramia and Ana are going to pay Iker to do something for them, but no one seems willing to discuss specifics, and the psychological distance between the three fails to close as the afternoon wears on. It's not until evening appears on the horizon that we learn the startling truth about these kids and their secret plans. Fin (aka End) was an official selection at the 2010 Berlin International Film Festival. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi

A widower finds new love in an unexpected place in this drama. Tulan (Eusebio Poncela) is an aging circus strongman who travels with a threadbare carnival from one tiny Argentine town to another. While Tulan loves his wife, he has no gift for expressing his feelings, and when she commits suicide, only then does he become fully aware of how much she meant to him. As he struggles to get along without her, he finds himself falling for another member of the carnival's entourage, Jenifer (Micky Ruffa), a female impersonator who is saving up to get gender reassignment surgery. Cabecita Rubia was the first feature from writer and director Luis Sampieri. ~ Mark Deming, Rovi
